Description WHY WILDSTYLE IS SO IMPORTANT TO GRAFFITI ART

Wildstyle has one instant impression on everyone - that is, upon seeing it, everybody knows it took some time and discipline to do!

But in an age, when many letters sets are hidden in colors, or made 3D or dimensional with those same techniques, it's very hard to find wild styles that are composed of REAL outlines.

People need to realize that wildstyles are also a direct symbol of graffiti evolution, since it was the evolution of even more complex letters that actually started the real rise of the graffiti art style as it's known today.

You can see this in the works done by our pioneers, such as Case 2, Duster, Skeem, Seen, Ramelzee, Vulcan, and T-Kid. In Chicago, that great legacy was continued by writers like Lab-rat, Salski, Tokeo, Beon, Ascend, Arte, Rascal, Pengo, Curly, Pose, Rude, Trixter, and many more.

But unfortunately, there is an ever growing trend of adopting "expressionist's" tactics into graffiti art, which promotes very minimalized lines and simplistic letters, which reduce the level of skill and complexity of letter styles as a whole.

Albeit, there is no such thing as bad graffiti letters, but there needs to be some respect given to those that practice the nearly lost art of REAL wildstyles, meaning those few writers that do true outlines that intermingle, overlap, connect, and meander throughout their styles.

That said, wildstyles are an intimate part of graffiti art, and it would be sad to see it go the way of the dinosaurs, especially since we all know that wildstyles are what originally separated styles from just any other set of art letters.
