This is probably my best model to date, and it's sad, because Ive done a few since him. I gota do better, or I'll be hella PO'ed!Renders:

Modeled in XSI 4.2 and Maya 7.0
Bump/Spec/Transperency work done in Z-Brush and PS.
No Dispalcement maps were used.

Hey thanks a bunch man! Actually, you used "texture" right and 90% of people out there use it wrong. Texture definitely is the surfaces "feel" while many people get it confused with what is called a "Color map."

The tounge looks like it's some kind of liquid - or is that just me? It feels like it's shooting out of it's mouth, but it's not connected to that wobbly thing it's coming from.

sweet MOSES! the detail around the teeth, nose and inner mouth are amazing! comparatively there isn't much detail on the rest of the body, however its just a small nit-pick!

I focused on just the skin surface. Check out how the skin acts on nearly any surface of any creature and you'll notice most details show up in areas that have the greatest change, such as the mouth, knuckles, etc.
