Concept sketch of the Cutlass, a spaceborne mecha used by the Pirate Clans.

A product of pirate ingenuity, the Cutlass is a simple humanoid torso with a pair of fully articulated arms mated to an existing booster rocket. The result gives it a combination of speed and mobility but with some of the advantages of flexibility that a humanoid frame gives as well. Cutlasses were slapped together in the Clans' secret factories, oft made from re-purposed existing components.

The Cutlass was armed with a pair of laser turrets on its shoulders, as well as a railgun on its back. Additional boosters could be mounted to its main engine to increase its acceleration or to allow a speedy escape.

Sadly, the original sketch is in terrible condition and badly faded. Original artwork c2001-2002
