He'd never been this far from home before.
After his parents had passed on, he'd kept living in their den. Though it was long absent of the herbs they'd used, the aromatic scents still clung to the earthen walls; honeysuckle, comfrey, lavender... betony. Now here he was, leaving all that behind. That and the splitting of the pack- and the death that had caused it- made him feel like he had stepped on a loose rock, wobbling and trying not to fall. But he'd get through it, he'd manage. A new pack, a new den. ...Maybe he could even find some flowers to put in it.
