Description Finally the color version is done. This picture felt very different to the previous ones due to the special light and it's killed of every last one of my nerves. xD;;;

Now I'm looking forward to a few days rest from painting anything pink. Seriously, I've felt colorblinded while working on some parts and areas. x___X

Hope you like it and I'm happy to hear your opinions.

Hmmm.... I drew the outlines and inked them on paper for this one. The coloration is made digitally with tablet and PaintToolSAI.
Coloring is always fun - in the beginning. Pulling through to the very end is usually where I struggle. XD

If you're interested in giving the coloration a try, the lineart is available in my gallery. I'm sure it could be printed out. :3

I imagine colored pens should work well as the printed ink probably isn't water proof.

Once I stopped trying to use it in the same way you would use your mouse I got used to it very quickly. Since my tablet back then was roughly the same size as a mouse mat (the active area was no bigger than a post card though) I replaced the mouse with my pen. %D
The tablet I have today is much too big for that arrangement to work though, so I put it away when I'm not using it and the mouse is back in business.

Hm, not sure if I have much of an opinion to offer. As an digital artist a good monitor is important and those don't come cheap. The monitor on my current laptop is driving me nuts though and is pretty much the opposite of what I would consider an ideal screen for working on photos and such, as it is near impossible getting it to display anything the right way. XD

Not really. I do however at times look up things and then youtube is a great source for tutorials and quick answers. But I do not follow any artists per say. The only one I watched several "episodes" of, was one, who made videos for the use of PE Design (a program associated with my embroidery machine). I've gotten the hang of the program, but I'm not very knowledgable with how the variables work and how some tools are intended to be used, so then it's nice to check some of those videos and hopefully get an AHA experience. She's using a newer version though, so some of the commands don't seem to work for me.

Thank you. It took a lot of effort getting the colors right, but I really love how the water surface turned out. It's my favorite spot in the whole painting. x3
Say what you will about Rocky and his rather oblivious stroll through life. He takes being a father very seriously.

I have been considering a night scene with the tiger. But Al intimidates me. He's hard to draw. I also need to have a good pun for the center piece. It's the driving force behind every one of these paintings. There is a minisketch somewhere with the owls getting back at the noisy parrots...

Yes. I try to keep my planning to a minimum, as it tends to intimidate me and keep me from starting at all. I know there are sime pictures from the making of the first Siesta painting, where you can see the process taking place. I never know what new faces will come about when I do my Siesta pieces. :3

Lines I think, as they were inked on paper. Pain in the... and How to catch your fly were fully digitally drawn.

Back when I got my first tablet (a Wacom Graphire) I took to it very quickly. I do remember that I traced my very first picture, but from there I very quickly adapted to using it instead of the computer mouse. The hurdle was getting over trying to use it in the same way as a mouse (drag and lift, then drop and drag again) That doesn't work very well when you use a tablet.  For many years I used fairly small tablets, but eventually modern monitors outgrew them, with ever increasing resolution. Now I have a large Intuos 4. The large size has taken som getting used to, but it is still going strong after many years. I did get different nubs for the pen thugh. The default one would make squeaky noices when rubbing against the tablet. XD
