Knowledge is, as usual, power. On a homepage I read: “AI is here to stay, and learning how to manipulate a large language model could help you secure your future.” Sounds like hard work. There is in one sense a relief that the amount of future that I have left is rather limited. And besides, I have to keep track of my own big language model, my own personal computer — my brain.

There are no stupid questions, but the way you pose your question will influence the answer. So if you use an AI you have to bee your own, so called, prompt engineer. An AI prompt is the input one uses to get the, hopefully right output. A prompt can be a question, a text, a snippet of code or an example. To be able to write good prompts one has to understand the strengths and limitations of the model. If you don’t immediately get the expected output you can, in order to avoid all inconveniences, ask a prompt generator to do the job for you.

I you whish an AI, in this case the image generator Midjourney to produce a cool dog a prompt-generator suggest the following prompt: “liquid otherworldly cool dreamy dog, cuddly, arrogant, powerful, high fantasy, epic, cinematic, internal glow.” After a short bark, there it is. No wonder I hate AI.
