It has been almost a decade I started reading homestuck (no i havent checked the latest chapters and i dont plan to lmao). I remember discovering this webcomic on one of the hardest years in my life... I seriously did try to kill myself two times on 2011 yet, thanks to my naivety, I had no idea that there are webpages that guide you to how to do that so I failed miserably both times.
This is seriously too cheesy AHDJSGDHJHG but Homestuck was one of the few things that made me look forward everyday that was able to cheer me up a little bit.
Also, thanks to my family/upbringing english was always present in my life yet I was very mediocre at the language (public education in my country literally is designed to limit socially vulnerable children to get any opportunities in life) because at school they taught us literally shit: Homestuck was full of new words and literally a new world to me, so I unconsciously learned english while I was translating the dialogue and trying to understand it. Thanks to it I've literally won awards and opened new doors for me.
Maybe that's why I remember so much from it today.
One of these things I remember was a really great headcannon that explained why some couples we're unrequited (karkat&nepeta, eridan&feferi, kanaya&vriska, you get it) and it was because they were some sort of siblings thanks to their ancestors. Love is seriously misunderstood on troll society so the affection that you would naturally felt towards your own sister or brother was confused as atraction or something along these lines.
