Description The Troopers don’t know what to do about Tyler Steele, and Jeb suggests they ask Tao for help.
Karl Ziktor has the triangle he used to steal Tyler Steele’s knowledge, he calls it the Prism of Empowerment.
The Troopers make it to Tao Dojo, and try to explain what’s going on.
Meanwhile, Ziktor hands his crystal ball to one of the women that hang around him. She crushes it, and in it’s place he puts the Prism of Empowerment. Lights shoot out, and create a spaceship!
He does his old incantation, but now it’s flashier and transports him to the ship.
We get a close look at Grimlord’s new appearance. He has a tail now. Or maybe he always had it. He was always sitting after all. His new base is alot more colorful and bright than his old palace.
He summons his new henchmen. First is a woman, Despara. She activates a giant angry looking face, Oraclon. Oraclon summons another, Doom Master. Oraclon then creates five women, the Vixens. I wonder if those women that hang around Ziktor’s office were created the same way. Icebot and Ivar are still around, but not in person.
The Troopers bring Ryan’s father to Tao. Tao reveals a hidden room in the Dojo. He and the Troopers join hands to power a crystal that revives Tyler Steele.
At the pagoda, Ryan and Tyler discuss giving Ryan new VR powers.
At the lab, they work on a new VR suit for Ryan. Grimlord sends out his new air assault forces. JB and Kaitlin are sent to stop them, Ryan’s new powers arent ready yet.
The new air assault forces are tough, Tyler Steele insists they return so he can make adjustments to the Skybase. Their communication is broken off, then JB and Kaitlin crash!
They make it back to the lab, and see Ryan’s new VR armor completed. He just needs a Virtualizer to access it.
This is a great episode, perfectly following up the previous while setting up and introducing many new elements to come.
I love Grimlord’s new crew, they’re all so strange looking, which fits his new base of operations. It’s brightly colored, and wide open, like his old one, though this one is quite smaller. Weird buglike creatures are stuck in the wall. Instead of an army of monsters and robots, this room has some Skugs and Ultra Skugs, the Vixens, Doom Master, Despara and Oraclon.
Ivar and Icebot are still just stock footage. I’m surprised they weren’t updated with American suits.
Oraclon is one of the oddest new additions. He appears to be an advisor to Grimlord. Despara looks to be the summoner or creator of monsters, and Doom Master is the lead general.
Grimlord’s not the only one with a new setting, Tao Dojo has a secret room that’s only just now being revealed. Tao explains it’s his own personal sanctuary for meditation.
The scene of Tyler Steele waking up reminds me of Zordon coming back to life in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie. The music is even similar, I wonder if there was any inspiration taken.
Ryan and his father go to the pagoda, and they talk about being together there when Ryan was younger. Ryan says he thinks about it all the time, a cute reference to most season one frame openings and endings.
I love that we get a couple of glimpses at Ryan’s new suit. It’s kept a bit mysterious, we don’t know it’s full capabilities yet.
One more thing that I just find really interesting, Grimlord’s new suit was designed by special effects legend John Carl Buechler. He was the director of many fantasy and horror movies, like the first Troll film and Friday the 13th 7: The New Blood.
