Episode 17 (Season 2, Episode 4) - "Brandy Learns To Cook"
--------------------
COMMENTS:
For those people tuning in for the first time, Larry had the roses sent to Brandy at work as part of making up for the big fight they had the past weekend, as depicted in the previous episode "The Argument."
In the original draft this scene is played a little differently, with Larry feigning ignorance at first and then the two of them having a good laugh and another kiss once he admits to Brandy what he did, which she knew all along of course. I cut that bit in order to tighten the scene and help keep the episode page count down.
You should also note that Brandy and Larry are using their pet names for each other, young lady and old man. It's a tip of the hat to their disparate ages. Brandy was 26 and Larry 52 when they first met ... but love always finds a way, doesn't it? (grin-and-wink)
It's amazing what keepsakes you latch onto and save to either remind you of a past romance or to help you better treasure a current one. I still have the card and personal photo I was given from my last girlfriend, after we decided together to end our relationship and move on. I was the first man she hooked up with after her divorce, and after several months together she told me that she wanted to see other men. She was a true bohemian at heart, if you know the term, and for my part I was wise enough to let her go. In that card, however, she told me that I had helped her get through a very difficult time in her life and that she would never forget me. (Everybody say "Awwwwwww ....") If you think that's sentimental hogwash, here's another example from someone I know. My father carries with him to this day a small business card with the single word HOPE on one side and a short religious message on the other. Sort of a mini-tract, if you will. He got it shortly after he first met my mother, and he's carried with him ever since as a physical symbol of their continuing love for each other. That card has gotten well worn over the decades and he had to have it laminated to keep it from falling apart, but he still has it. (Everybody say "Awwwwwww ....") I'm sure all of you out there, both men and ladies and regardless of culture or religious beliefs, can relate to that and even recall examples of your own from your own lives or from some of those who you know.
