Ported to OBJ from the fan-created model by Lansing that is included in the CJ's Models Pack for the Starfleet Command (SFC) series of video games. Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS. NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

Listening posts in the Trek multiverse are small space stations almost always found at or near interstellar borders or at specific points within one's own territory (usually as part of anti-piracy or anti-conspiracy operations) and always for a special reason: to listen in on any and all communications traffic in the area regardless of broadcaster, type, form, or language. They have very specialized scanning equipment for this that can pick up almost any form of communications both audio and video (and even mental if telepaths are present as operators) over surprisingly long ranges. If they are armed at all (and they usually aren't) then they have only low end self-defense type weaponry, usually sufficient to drive off pirates or marauders but not nearly enough to deal with a proper warship.

This generic model is used in this mod pack for everyone's listening posts in the TOS/TAS era. I'm posting only the Feddie version because of its obvious stylistic similarities to proper Feddie space stations (TOS "The Trouble With Tribbles"), starbases (the SFHQ design from ye olde SFTM), and so on. To represent generic listening posts operated by the other interstellar powers in the TOS/TAS era, all the mod does is change the markings or insignia -- or in the case of some powers (such as the Kzinti), the whole thing also gets a coat of new paint in the proper color.

This is fanon, although the concept of the listening post itself is semi-canon per both SFC and SFB (the latter is from where the Trek multiverse concept originated).
