Description

Ported to OBJ from the stock model included with the game Silent Hunter 3 (SH3) by Ubisoft.  Custom texture is from the Living Silent Hunter 3 2015 fan uber-mod (LSH3 2015).  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

The Silent Hunter series uses the U.S. Navy's Cherokee/Navajo class tug as a stock model any time it needs a tugboat in the game regardless of whose navy it is.  That said it doesn't offer a lot in terms of alternate textures to help hide this.  Leave the fans who were behind the LSH3 2015 uber-mod to come to the rescue.  They created almost two dozen different textures for the game stock model, only one of which you see pictured above, half of which are wartime camo textures for military use and the other half are repaints for civilian use.  My personal favorite among the civilian repaints is pictured above, and I have also removed the aft mast and derrick in order to emphasize civilian re-use.  I also removed the aft-mounted light AA gun tubs and rebuilt the aft end of the deckhouse accordingly.  This leaves the aft end clear for customization purposes. such as for adding a civilian model derrick or heavy-duty cable winch for towing, etc.  I have to admit that in this form it looks a lot like any other large oceangoing tugboat of the era used by just about everybody else at the time, don't you think?

While I am not making my OBJ port of this model available for public download, you can get it in one of two different ways.  Both will require you to install and download either version of the Living Silent Hunter 3 fan uber-mod in its original 2015 or slightly updated 2020 forms.  I'll let you track it down; it's not that hard to find (grin).  After that you can either pull it out piecemeal using the SKWAS/s3ditor model utility or rip it using any good 3D model ripper (3D Ripper DX or NinjaRipper recommended).  Whichever way you go, you will then have to hunt through the game's subdirectories, find the DDS graphic files for the custom tug textures (there's two different sets with two different names), and then apply them accordingly.  Big hint - be sure not to miss the separate texture for the decks when you do this.  Have fun!
