This first page by me is STNV filler, doing some necessary STNV housekeeping things before I get to the story proper, although it draws from the opening scene of the original short story. BTW in the original Kirk was the one who walked into McCoy's office to ask him on which shore leave rotation he wanted to go. For my STNV adaptation I left him on the bridge and gave this part to both Vicky and Sue, as this was the best opportunity to get those aforementioned STNV housekeeping things out of the way before the real fun begins.

Beginning with this episode I am no longer going to provide YouTube links for the Trek BGMs I'm using. You'll have to look them up yourselves, although it's not that hard. I'll still give you the little blue BGM cards in the appropriate panels to let you know both my intent and which one I'm using.

For those of you just tuning in, "Vicky" is Lt. Victoria "Vicky" Morgan. She's being played by Victoria from Phantomers, and she's one of the Enterprise's three assistant chief engineers under Scotty. Vicky is a recurring female supporting character in STNV, very much like Mr. Leslie or Lt. Palmer or many more such back on TOS. In STNV she's the one who normally mans the Bridge Engineering console whenever Scotty's not on the bridge ("Attention all hands, this is Bridge Engineering ..."). She, Uhura, Jan (Janice Rand), Sue (Nurse Kelly), and Marge (Mess Officer Briel) are very good friends and often hang out together whenever they're not on duty, and they and other female unnamed officers and senior enlisted are "the girls" that Vicky mentions later in her dialogue. You Trek fans in general and STNV fans in particular can all the fun with the notion of STNV's "Enterprise girls" you want, aka a Brat Pack kind of thing or the like (chuckle), so long as it isn't for porn, okay? (grin and wink) Okay, enough background, moving on ...

I like these little frontier worlds. They let men be men and women be women. - While I have my own old-fashioned interpretation of Vicky's statement, I'm also generous enough to let you folks interpret it any way you want. Truth be told I was keying off of one of the more famous quotes from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. To paraphrase from memory: "And in those days men were real men, women were real women, and little pink furry things from Alpha Centauri were REAL little pink furry things from Alpha Centauri." XD

He's going to teach her how to make haggis./Oh, that poor girl. - That's a matter of opinion, of course, especially if you're Scottish. Hey, the things a woman will do for her man. (wink) Here's a Wikipedia link for more info:
