Description

NEW FOR 2022!

A mod by me of the "Fletcher (II)" class destroyer model included with both the Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate Edition (FOTRSU) and Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO) fan mega-mods for Silent Hunter 4 Gold Edition (SH4G or SH4 1.5).  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  I'm also making this available for download since it's my model or mod.  To download, click on the little arrow icon pointing DOWN.

This was inspired by the "ASW Fletcher" in the Battlestations series of games by Eidos.  It's a stock United States Navy (USN) Fletcher class destroyer, one of the best of World War II, that's been optimized for anti-submarine warfare (ASW).  Number 2 main gun (superfiring forward) has been removed and replaced with a swivel-mounted hedgehog launcher, and four extra K-guns with ready spare depth charges have been added to the stern for a total of eight (!), plus the two regular depth charge racks.  That's a whole lot of hurt this girl can unload on any enemy sub trying to stay submerged and sneak away!  As for the other ASW stuff (improved sonar, etc.), you'll have to figure that out if you add this to the game ... or to any other game, for that matter.

Here's some info on the original Battlestations version of the ASW Fletcher:

NOTE - This is a very easy mod to do yourself, if you have the skill and would like to cook this up or something like it on another destroyer class on your own.

TRIVIA - The Battlestations Wiki calls this design "too specialized," and with good reason.  Also, per the historical record, Hedgehog-equipped Fletchers were not in widespread use with the USN until the Korean War.  You can probably hand-wave this away in your own World War II era fantasy fleet exercises as, uhmmm, "a look ahead."  XD
