But where did he come from? Who summoned him? How did he find him? He had no Puzzle, no cards; nothing but the clothes on his back. Alone and forsaken in the middle of nowhere.

Perhaps he’s hallucinating.

Nevertheless, whatever—whoever—this person was, hallucination or not, his presence made him feel safe.
