Well my having "Siberian" in my username is more because of the fact I raise Siberian Huskies and not because I like Borgia, and I do know that Cesare wasn't Pope, his father was. Pope Alexander the VI was the first pope to admit having children. Cesare was a Bishop by the age of 15 and a Cardinal by the age of 18 though, he was the one of Borgia's sons to be groomed to be pope after his father, but he never did.

I know the historical facts. Lets not forget how often he married lucrezia (actually she was married to two men for a while, though the first marriage was never physically committed - actually the second one - which was Giovanni Sforza - was neither...)
I just noted - since I'm interested in this family by myself - that it is a funny coincidence that someone else with that "Siberian" in the name also seems to be a Borgia-geek.
(my name comes from the fact that friends consider me being slightly husky-like. Considering clingy-ness and clumsyness. *grumps* grat how much loved I am.)

Yeah, I try to ignore the idea of the Borgia and Sforza families being connected in any way, too much respect for the Sforzas, Caterina Sforza's on my list of historical people I would have wanted to sleep with, Cesare Borgia was also on the list though. *shot for major nerd moment*
I guess the people with "Siberian" in their name are geeks and nerds, which makes us cool.
Well Huskies aren't really clumsy, but they're affectionate if it helps them in any way, they are a pack oriented canine, and are extremely speedy. *is a husky nerd thanks to 18 years of raisings Siberian Huskies*

*revives you for celebrating major nerd moment*
Cesare Borgia.
The d'aragon-siblings.
...
yeah, I favour the hot-headed Spanish. XD. (anyone who wants Giulia can have her. A pretty face I have by myself and otherwise she seems to be too meek and controlled from her family to be my taste.
Let's say Huskies are not clumsy... but their way showing their affection is very... oncontrolled. They see you. They love you. They run over you, wanna cuddle, then they wanna run with you - and totally forget you're just a little human who can't run as fast and long as them...
...
...
...
...
well...
...
*takes a look in the mirror*
But well, I'm cool and I am in a university faculcy full of cool people, so what do I care? XD

I favour anyone who's hot-headed, but that might be because I am. And also for the fact that I'm pretty certain I'm descended from French Templars would be another reason to like Cesare. >.> Just can't let the Assassins know. Although I don't think anyone likes Giulia for the fact that she was meek and easily controlled, or at least those were my main reasons for not liking her.
Huskies are affectionate, they're horrible gaurd dogs since the worse they'll do is push you down and lick you to death. And I know all too well how fast they run, try cahsing one down in -50 degrees celcius weather, blowing snow, and you're only in pj's and winter boots because they think you're playing when you're trying to get them back into the yard.
I wouldn't say I'm cool, just surrounded by geeks and nerds, but those geeks and nerds are my family.

Gimme a Lucrezia any day. (yes. She was pretty much ruled by her father and her brother and a big deal of that came from her father genuinly loving his children and them loving him back. Then Cesare was her favourite brother. Until Alfonso happened to come along... after that she distanced a big deal and made more her own paths - but still she never neglected her family... *sighs* it takes a big deal to live with that family, loving them, being loved by them, still knowing what they do - and not going mad. For this Lucrezia has my respect.
While I truly love reading about any authentic gossip considering Madonna Sancia. I really never thought ther would anyone exist - or have existed for that matter - being able to throw even more tantrums and fits than me.
(poor Gioffre. No wonder he never said anything about her having affairs with his brother(s) - he probably was glad to not having to deal with her that much.)
We are no mainstream. We ARE cool. In our cool, geeky way.

SiberianAshe In reply to Siberianchan [2010-06-24 02:09:33 +0000 UTC]
Lucrezia was a bit too forceful in my opinion, she was far more demanding than most women of the age that's for certain. It was that force and her general nature that allowed her to become so known in the time, same is with Caterina Sforza in a sense as both women made their marks in history.. *remembers watching Warehouse 13 with her brother with the episode with Lucrezia's spirit and her golden comb that controlled people's mind* I screamed out "Piece of Eden!" and pointed at the comb when it was on the screen. >.> Totally not an Assassin's Creed fan at all...
The entire Borgia family has my respect, Lucrezia and Cesare have the most of it thought and Cesare more than Lucrezia.
Gioffre certainly didn't get the greatest wife, but that sort of thing was commonplace back then, nobles married for wealth and power rather than for love.
Geeks are always cool because they have never been mainstream.

Oh god, I think I have to watch "Warehouse 13. Just for that moment"
There's an italo-spanic film production I can highly recommend - the frame is the moment they set Cesare imprisioned after Alexanders death. From that backwards there's a jump, short before the time Rodrigo became pope. Wonderful.
Historically way more correct than certain manga that always set me up pretty much (if you don't know what I mean: "Cantarella" by You Higuri. I tried to read without fits. Was not able to.). Great costumes, great setting, great actors (though Sancia looked a bit too old for me - she was Lucrecias age but in her very first scene I saw a very attractive woman in her late 30ties.) that not only had the looks but also acted well.
Great thing. With much emphazis of the relationships of the people, the affair-web, jealousy, sibling-love... great to watch.
Ah well. Sancia in a sense WAS a great wife - just that they had the bad luck being not compatible with each other. (yes, I know how common arranged marriages were. *studies history* Still it's rather bad luck that Rodrigo had made his mind up making a priest of Cesare. Maybe Gioffre would have been the better choice... on the other hand, he needed to keep Cesare on the short leash (at least later when he was grown up.) so this might be a reason he denied to Cesare retiring.
That's what I say. XD (I mean - is it cool or is it good having a sleepover-girly night with study colleagues - and consider mute movies by Fritz Lang perfect flicks for the occasion?)

SiberianAshe In reply to Siberianchan [2010-06-25 04:21:24 +0000 UTC]
it was one of the first episodes, I giggled because they had also mentioned Machiavelli in that episode because of Lucrezia's spirit possessing some woman. I swear at the mention of the name "Borgia" I was in total geek mode and I wasn't even paying attention to the show until Lucrezia was mentioned. There were a number of movies about Cesare Borgia, spanning all the way back to the 1920's with silent films. I've read Ludwig II from You Higuri, but never Cantarella. I'll have to ask my girlfriend if she knows about that manga since she's got a number of You Higuri's works.
Gioffre would have been the better choice to become pope after Rodrigo, but he chose Cesare for his own reasons and I think if Cesare had lived long enough, he would have been I fine pope. I know if Cesare was pope right now, I'd switch to the Catholic faith. *shot for being a perv for Cesare* Unfortunately he didn't live all that long. Why do I have a feeling that Ubisoft is gonna make fans shank Cesare in Brotherhood? *whines since she doesn't think she could do it* I was all excited to shank Rodrigo, but they had to be historically correct and let him live, I dun wanna shank Cesare!
Well I think it's cool to have a study session with Fritz Lang movies. I read various works of Shakespeare for fun in highschool and will sit and research various historical figures out of boredom. (Hence knowing the Borgia family)

Uh... Cesare as pope... I'm not sure about that. I mean - he loved war. He loved fighting and killing.
No... I don't think he'd been any better than his father. *sighs* Nope. As much as I admire him as a person... but political... nope.

SiberianAshe In reply to Siberianchan [2010-06-25 05:37:07 +0000 UTC]
True, politically he wouldn't have been better, but he was better looking and I liked the way Cesare looked. Plus, all political leaders in history loved war, fighting, and killing. Humans are like that and there's no real way to change that.

Siberianchan In reply to SiberianAshe [2010-06-25 07:32:32 +0000 UTC]
There's a difference between accepting the neccessarity to fight and the fighting for the fights sake, you know. Political leaders have to be aware that there probably always be struggles. But part of their job is, to decrease the amount of fights, damage and victims and to shorten them.
It's definitely nottheir job starting a war cause they want some territories, goods, oil, power, etc. (any political leader starting a war by himself is a failure.)

Oh well, war is always going to happen because that's how humans are. So many wars have been fought in the name of God alone and they weren't in reality having anything to do with him.

Great Job. But I'm wondering where the light comes from. Is it in the back, or in the front. Cause when it comes from the back the person in the foreground appears dark and there are hardly no reflextions on the armour . My english is not good enough to explain what I mean. But I realy like that painting. Its the second one of Borgia I have seen till now. Thank you to pay attention to the chara Badyguys are often ignored.

He didn't smell it. He kissed it. It was a tradition from the Ancient Romans and Vikings too, hoping their swords made it through the battle (and didn't break) and in thanks for all the times it got them through bad times alive.
Though I agree that he's "gross". He gives me the creeps. Like a serial killer that saunters up to you at the bar and says, "Hey, baby."
