Chronologically, Altair has two sons I believe. One of them put an arrow in the leg of genghis khan's horse. At least that's what I think.
If he didn't have a son or children for that matter, how would have Ezio ultimately been born.
That scene with Desmond in ACII where he passes out in the hallway of the warehouse and sees Altair chasing and later kissing Maria, then later when the memory was staying on Maria. That meant that he had conceived a child with her passing down the memories, which ended up being his firstborn son.

Hm, guess I read articles. And it is confusing. Familial relations and DNA and all the possibilites of explanation that may pop up in Revelations is astounding to read about. Stuff about Ezio's wife being a descendent of Altair, or ever later down the line, agh just boggles my mind.
