I love the Dottore il Peste mask. I actually have one from Venice. It goes with my Nazi officer's cap to create a truly diabolical costume. Plague Doctors ftw!

I still don't understand why the doctors wear the plague masks... Even though they're in a non-infected area. D:

I guess, in terms of a non-infected area, I can't tell you...
But I know that they would fill the beak of the mask with herbs that not only clouded the smell of death, but supposedly protected them while they tended to their patients.
That's all I know off the top of my head....

Oh, what would Ezio do without the doctors? He tends to get slashed, bashed and hacked at a lot when I'm playing. That or he takes a long fall.

I think I went to an actual Doctor about... Once... Throughout the whole game. And that was because it was required in the beginning before you can climb the church. However, I got into combat waaaay more then necessary -- chugged medicine like it was candy and then looted the bodies.

No, throughout the entire game I relied on looted medicine rather than buying it or the "Heal Now" option. You'd be surprised how many guards carry around that stuff.
And yes, combat is amazing. Gotta love the ability to disarm a guard and then kill him with his own weapon.

actually, these were the mask that the doctors did wear around the time period of the black plague. and since the renaissance (machiavelli and leonardo are from that time period) took place in italy and so did AC, the doctors still wore the masks, even tho it was over by that time. if my history is wrong plz correct me

I mean, sometimes ezio has almost no health, then goes to a doctor and the doctor says something like "this should help for now, but be more careful in future."
would be funny if ezio replies "that would put you out of work, dude."

if you have seen the music video by Linkin park "catalyst"....mike shinoda in the hood and crashing the crowd looks like Ezio from this pic and Ezio version with facial hair and older version... and the gas masked guards from the music video resembles the Doc from this pic in the sense that the mask of Doc is quite Steampunk/post apocalyptic - ish...
