Description This was a test where I played around with the render capabilities of my new laptop (8 threads!)

Also played around with a crude DOF effect in GIMP using Kerkythea's Depth Map. And by crude, I mean very crude.
I mean everythings blurry wtf Never mind kinda fixed it with a dab of eraser >.>

Steve has gone out to get more materials for the roof of his new house. The cat takes this opportunity to bask in the sunlight while he can.

Kerkythea has a way of rendering real DOF, which always turns out much better than using a depth map

All you need to do is specify the focus distance (the distance in meters from the camera to the focus point), and set the f-number to anything less than "Pinhole" (an infinitely small aperture -> no DOF)

You can also choose if you want a perfectly circular aperture, or any polygon (triangle, square, pentagon++)

The easiest way of setting the focal point is to select a camera in Kerkythea, then dragging the focal point away from the camera until it is about lined up with the things you want in focus:

Then you go into the camera properties, and set the f-number, and change the aperture shape if you like. Lens samples only matter when you aren't rendering with either Path Tracing or Metropolis Light Transport.

If you are using Photon Mapping to render, increasing the lens samples will make your render take a long time, but the DOF will have higher quality. That's why it's best to render DOF with Path Tracing or MLT, because there's pretty much no time penalty with those methods

If you're not sure what f-number to use, it's easiest to start with a number like 1 and set it to 0.5 if there isn't enough dof-blur, or set it to 2 if there's too much.

Have no idea what "threads" means, unless you mean yarn or cotton, or string lol. How are you? Who cares if it's blurry, you can use blur sometimes to captivate someone, just as much as a clear lens can do. The possibilities behind art creations are almost endless. Have a good day, and yes I randomly found you on the DA portal art thing here. I liked what I saw, so I left a comment. Have a great week neighbor. What if you tried this in paintshop pro with a sketch trace type effect? Just a suggestion.
