Description
The boy in the drawling died of AIDs back in November of 1990 after a long struggle with the local school system that would not let him attend school. He died just before Thanksgiving and his photo (which was used to make the drawling) was on the cover oif the San Jose Mercury News on Thanksgiving day along with his sad story. His happy picture seemed ironic next to the story and it inspired me to draw him for my art class. My version didn't capture how happy he looked... if anything, I think it turned out kind of spooky.
