Cub – Seeing as he was the only cub of Mufasa and Sarabi, Simba was destined to be king from birth, and he knew it from birth. Though his parents made sure to not spoil him, and keep him humble amid his lessons, he still let the future get to his head, sometimes bragging about being king and being able to do what he wants. But he was still a friendly and kind cub, especially when it came to his best friend and betrothed, Nala. He tended to get jealous easily, but never let it cloud his judgement. Following his father’s death and his own exile, he became more subdued and depressed, even in spite of Timon and Pumbaa taking him in; though his old personality would still come through, just not as strong as it once was.
Adult – Simba never truly healed from his traumas, even after returning home, learning and setting truths straight, and taking his place on the throne. Although he was a good and considerate king, he was also paranoid; one of his worst mistakes, though it was later rectified, was callously banishing the wildebeests simply for their role in his father’s death. He had also banished every lion who followed Scar in any way, labeling them as Outsiders. He became increasingly overprotective of his cubs, especially after his oldest son disappeared, and activity from the Outsiders increased. Even after Kiara got through to him and convinced him to accept the Outsiders that were willing to change, it took him a long time to truly forgive and accept that lions could change.

Simba's mane was a little tricky to get just right. And I especially tried my best to make him look not too identical to Mufasa. Looking back, I remember it was tricky to draw Mufasa as a cub because A) I couldn't make him look too much like Simba, and B) I had to make it look like Mufasa as a cub. That being said, I changed adult Simba's ears so he still has the ear linings he had as a cub. Some people headcanon them disappearing as he grew up, but I like him having them, since it gives him something to inherit from his mother. DemiiDee was a bit of inspiration for that too.

Writing out Simba's personality was pretty easy. I feel that TLK2 only scratched the surface on how he had changed after Scar. 's www.deviantart.com/nostalgicch… was a source of information from this, and they do a good job of explaining how PTSD would have affected Simba. I also added in Simba banishing the wildebeest; this might seem a bit OOC, but since he wasn't trained to be a good, thoughtful king all his life, he would sort of still have the mind of a child in that aspect, and would somewhat blame them for Mufasa's death, even though Scar was the full perpetrator. Plus, I doubt he would have simply let all of the Outlanders come into the Pridelands right away. It takes baby steps to welcome someone back that you not only banished, but banished because they followed a horrible person.

After a bit of thinking, I gave Simba and Nala four cubs: we all know Kiara, almost everyone knows Kopa, and most know Kion. Chaka is the cub that was at the end of the first TLK (more information in his bio) The order in which they are born (at least the boys; disregard Kiara's age in reference to them for now) is a little important
