So after a long time, I decided to upload this picture because now I felt like posting it now. Basically, I drew the Mario characters because I realised that even though I liked Mario, there is virtually nothing in my gallery that pays tribute to Mario. However, I decided to do something simple and just draw the heads of various characters. There will be four parts here, with a sizeable sample of characters. I decided to have at least one representative of notable Mario branches, to increase the variety.

Here, we have the main Mario characters, who should all be recognisable at this point. Explaining the characters doesn't seem to be the best way here, considering how popular Mario is up to now, and besides, explaining about them will be a long read, so I won't get there. Instead, I will tell my opinions and thoughts on all of them!

Mario: The main character of the franchise, so what's not to love about this guy? Already possessing quirky attributes right from the beginning of time, it's little wonder everyone loves Mario, including me! The funny thing is that when I practiced drawing Mario, I wasn't able to get his features right, but when I went to sketch on the paper I drew, I somehow got the desired look! Overall, Mario's an alright person that I like, and his speeches never fail to amuse me (stuff like "Giovanni hurry up and play for crying out loud!?" ([link] ) and "I'm-a bet you can't do this!" are really hilarious).

Waluigi: Ah yes, Waluigi, the most infamous of the famous Mario characters, simply because of how he looks. Of course, there are some who likes Waluigi, and I kinda like Waluigi too. In fact, Waluigi needs his own game! That would hopefully propel him to the status of Playable Character in Smash Bros., considering how he is one of the characters that seem to be very popular in a really short time.

Wario: Wario's also somewhat funny too, because of the way he talks (see Wario Press Conference for example). Anyway, not much to say about Wario, except my surprise to see Wario being a smash hit that he got two franchises under his name. There must be something about greed and gluttony (and probably farting) that instantly makes a character.

Daisy: Daisy is probably my favourite of the Mario femme fatales, better than Peach I say! Again, a playable role in a Mario game would do great on her. For some reason, I had the impression that Nintendo didn't think Daisy is a marketable character, despite having a somewhat notable fanbase. Besides, I believe that the West would like that, since they tend to prefer Daisy's personality than Peach's. My sister coloured Peach, though.

Luigi: Luigi's always the unexpectedly popular character even though he is supposed to be unpopular. Since Luigi's popular, I don't need to root for Luigi anymore for his fanbase is quite loyal at this point (I think).

Peach: Peach is my least favourite Mario character, and I like to depict her as tall and skinny, hence the long face. since my sister coloured this too, I didn't get to go with the original plan to make three layers of colours in her pupils to highlight on her craziness. Why she is very popular in the first place (even taking Pauline's place in Game & Watch 2's Modern Donkey Kong game) is out of my guess. I guess because she is pink and plays pretty awesome roles in Super Mario Bros. 2 & Super Mario RPG gave a great lasting impression, but to me, Peach won't be my favourites.

Toad: Initially having two characters on the right, I had to only settle for Toad because he's easier to draw. Toad is funny because he can be a main character and he can be a species. By species, I mean like in Mario Baseball and Football (Strikers), you can see multiple Toads, and in some others, he's a single character (Mario Party DS, Super Mario Bros. 2). He's cute, so I can bear him. I do love his voice too, and Mario Kart 64 (English) is my favourite iteration.
