all that can happen in the worst case is that you get your feet wet
this actually is the beach where british, french and belgian forces were evacuated in 1940.

sometimes history seems like nothing but the history of war.
of course there is so much more, but still....
the u.s.a.'s terrors have been different and left different physical marks... dispossession and death of the native americans - civil war, incredible slaughter - murder of so many black americans after slavery ended - wow, so depressing
there should be a better way than all this now. to some extent there is. not like there should be though. if you ask me.

me too, i've had a "political consciousness" for a long time but these last years... maybe it's something about being in one's 50s and then, in my case, 60... i think it about it all maybe too much even.
