Aster pretty much flipped out when she came home and saw all the scratches on Arlo.
"Mama, I made a new friend today!" He proclaimed, flinching as Aster dabbed a wet washcloth on his face to clean the injuries that crisscrossed it.
Arlo felt uneasy when Aster said nothing to his story as she continued to tend his scratches, and more hesitantly he added, "I-it was an accident...I don't think he knew a coatala lived in there...We didn't think it would attack..."
Aster had firmly told him to stay FAR away from any wild animal's den, and they were lucky it didn't get much worse than it did. She told him to tell his new friend they should stick to playing safer games in town, because these things called spites were around as well. She didn't want anything to happen to him, of course.
"Y-yes Mama..." Arlo said, feeling bad for scaring his mother. She gave him a gentle boop on his head, and Arlo went back to playing in his room.
Arlo looked at the pink coatala plushie that his mother let him keep in his room. Surely his new friend Ben didn't mean for this to happen. This surely wouldn't happen again.
