Description When the United Colonies decided to start taking back the wasteland, they protected and extended their reach with outposts. Used as hard points in key strategic areas, the outposts severed as front line defenses against the wilds of the waste. The outposts were also used to sever as quick attack/response staging and planning areas. Loaded up with enough guns, any mutant or raider has to think twice before they try to take one on.

Here is my mostly finished 1/35 outpost for a diorama. Built up from a verlinden plaster building, bashed details, custom figures and bits bin details. Hand painted with enamels and weathered with acrylics. I say mostly done because it still needs more posters (which I will add once I get an operational printer) fat top coat and pastels but I'll wait till it's on the diorama base for those. Feel like after being sick that I am starting to stall out on this, so it's time to call it done and move on.
Anyways this project took around 3 weeks, and while not as great as I hoped I am satisfied with it. Before I get it on a base and work on the overall diorama, I think I will be taking a break from the diorama project and do a couple quick, easy and fun kitbahses.

As always questions, comments and suggestions welcome!

Nice colours on the building, and I love all the little details you've added. It's easy to go overboard with that but you've found the balance.

Hmm. Pitty. I'm just really familiar with the items and poses. Never seen the plastic in person, no one uses them, 'cause you know, "Don't buy the old stuff. . ."

Huh? General Montgomery? lol nope. . .Nope, not at all. Β

lol maybe its just cause i have been spoiled by nicer figs. i still really like older tamiya, but the older style of heads kinda drive me nuts.

lol yup good old field marshal montgomery (with the tea cup) just with a head swap XD

Wow, very nice work!

The masked figure pointing at the table is making the whole scene very lively. All the others details are very nice too.

That bit that is holding the crane on the front, next to the window - isn't that a Tiger II rear exhaust protection? O_o

The only thing that confuses me is the guard tower's legs - they are a little short on one side. Is that intentional or will you add something underneath them like rocks? Because if something large and strong enough would push against the tower (like one of the overgrown radiated chickens) then it would fall over pretty easily I guess...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to Baryonyx62 [2014-02-12 11:30:24 +0000 UTC]

thanks friend!

yea he pretty neat. all the figures were pretty older that i did some Frankenstein on. the masked guys head is a nice resin one, so i tried to make sure he would be visible .

what! rear exhaust protection? you know me i am always 110% Historically Accurate, there is no way random WW2 german armor bits were used...... LOL

yea they have full legs(can be seen in a wip) but they touched level. so one day when moving the building they snapped off( i have them tho) thought i should replace them till i am working on the base.

Oh man this KICKS ZOMBIE ASS!! Β  Awesome model, im loving the details and painting colors! I guess at night they can pull the ladder up and be safe to sleep.. until the mines go off and its slaughter time that big gun could wipe out just about anything I look forward to seeing the whole diorama finished when you get to work on it again

enc86 In reply to jaffacakesandpopcorn [2014-02-11 23:20:14 +0000 UTC]

thanks a tonnage buddy XD

yea that's what i was thinking, they don't need any fancy sleeping arrangements. tho i do have a tent or two and thought about making a premiere fence(still have a ton of barbed wire) and having a camp in back, once it gets based.

lol that gun, i almost left it off. thing is pretty ridiculous and over powered, even by my standards XD

thanks again. i am sure ill add a bit more but i need a break from it for awhile XD probly work on the diorama in about a month or a couple projects(which ever comes first)

jaffacakesandpopcorn In reply to enc86 [2014-02-11 23:26:22 +0000 UTC]

Your welcome it came out great Tents are a good idea and more barbed wire too awesome!
the guns awesome, but i wouldnt want to be under the gun if it fires like a battleship, the roof would probably fall in
Yeah take your time and enjoy it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to jaffacakesandpopcorn [2014-02-11 23:30:01 +0000 UTC]

going forward i can see every project needing just a touch of barbed wire XD

lol i was thinking about that, my logicΒ  was its some sort super recoil less energy weapon. thats my story and i am sticking to it XD

i will try!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jaffacakesandpopcorn In reply to enc86 [2014-02-11 23:44:21 +0000 UTC]

have a zombie dragged behind Odin on barbed wire .. or hanging off the barrel

Yeah i thought it was a huge laser gun and they dont recoil.. not that ive ever fired or seen one but the Imperial Scout Walkers dont fall over backwards when firing so it must be true

You could have one on a stick like a warning to other zombies, like those jungle tribes do with heads You might need a PG18 on your diorama ahahaa!Β

From where did the turret came from?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to butterfrog [2014-02-11 23:37:18 +0000 UTC]

you know i am not 110% sure. was in my plastic hoard. looked to be from an older(80-90's) 1/6 action figure toy. was in kinda rough shape and added a few bits and paint.

Remember the G.I. Joe playsets from the 80's? for some reason, this gives me the same feeling, but with a more adult feel to it. I like it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to SlaterWheeler [2014-02-11 23:15:20 +0000 UTC]

do i EVER! going up G.I. Joe was probably my favorite toy(other than video games) could find them at yard sales all the time and i had alot at one point.
lol was thinking the same thing when this thing came together, guess that influence bleeds through. lol i suspect the turret might of been from a joe vehicle at one point(but it had not markings)
