This is the best tutorial on horns I could find EVER! It's amazing!
But can you tell me how you sew these horns on your wig without damaging foam?

thanks a lot.
the only thing you can do, to avoid puuling out is not to tighten the yarn to much.

A-MA-ZING! I think I had to try this one day, too. ^^ My horns (Real Sheep-Horns) are cool, but... A liitle bit heavy. ^^

Yes real horns will be best looking, but are to heavy, to were a headpice the whole day. My fist horns were made out of fimo light and also too heavy (and this were very smal horns)

I'd suggest a thin headband that you could hide easily

thank you! you really save me I will try soon!
(sorry for the question but what kind of foam it is? polyurΓ©thane?)

Ermelyn In reply to yume-chan05 [2013-01-28 13:02:10 +0000 UTC]
yes its polyurethane 45 (its also used for LARP-Weapons. Maybe this is helpful to find the right foam).
And good luck by trying!

thank a lot! I'm glad to asked you, the only "polyurethane" I know is a yellow foam really hard to sculpt! I will continue to search for that, thanks again

π: 0 β©: 1
Ermelyn In reply to AngelofDarkSilence [2012-10-21 13:31:42 +0000 UTC]
puh... i dont know how i should explain this tools
a soldering gun you need for brazing and a hot air gun is something like a blow-dryer but with 750 and 1,000 degrees F

AngelofDarkSilence In reply to Ermelyn [2012-10-21 16:03:46 +0000 UTC]
Hmm oh ok ^^ but are they necessary? for making this orr no just a way you do it?
π: 0 β©: 1
Ermelyn In reply to AngelofDarkSilence [2012-10-22 11:53:47 +0000 UTC]
no they are not necessary, but it is much easier with this tool. You can also use a candle and a sharp knife (but this will bring another result, bexouse it's not possible to change the shape of the horns without a hot gun).

Here in Germany this foam is also used to build LARP weapons. Maybe this will be an indicator for you?

Wow wicked helpful tutorial! Side question though...
How did you sew the horns to the wig? O.o
π: 0 β©: 1
Ermelyn In reply to dancerchick95 [2012-09-07 06:31:33 +0000 UTC]
Thanks.
I sew with a leather needle. It is a little bi tricky, because of the hair, but it will work.

OH so you don't add a peice of fabric or anything to the bottom?
Cool! I'm going to have to try it! Keep up the amazing cosplays and tutorials and what not!

Ermelyn In reply to dancerchick95 [2012-09-10 09:38:05 +0000 UTC]
A piece of Fabric is not necessary, but a fabric band is helpfull to fix the wig at your head.

Amazing tutorial, I'm going to use it to create horns for Houndoom the pokemon, but I was just wondering what tools you'd reccomend for cutting and gluing, any particular glue and knives? And is there a certain paint to use?
π: 0 β©: 1
Ermelyn In reply to RaiTerra [2012-08-02 08:06:17 +0000 UTC]
I don't use any special tools. A cutter-knife (something like that:[link] i don't know if my translation is right^^)and alway use a new blade, when it's getting difficulter to get a clean cut. My favorite clue is Pattex (i don't know if this is available in other countrys) it's a contact glue.
The paint i use is normal acrylic paint. Only thing you have to keep in mind is that this paint will not go with every deformation of the horns.
