Description
Hi, I'm back!^_^; So many people asked about my coloring method. I'm afraid if this is appropriate for the name of 'tutorial', but anyway...
---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------
*Coloring Medium
I always use water-soluble color pencil, except for Oekaki.
+Additional medium:
Linework: Zebra pen, Monami pen
Effect & mood color: Shinhan Pastel
Over Photoshop 5.5 version
About 90% of my coloring done by manual, and 10% is done by Photoshop. I'm wondering if I have to put my work into "mixed media" category. (ponders)
*Simple tutorial on my coloring method
---------------------------------------- ------------------
1) Just plain coloring with color pencil. Looks clean but too shallow.
2) So let's give the "depth" to the coloring.
It's easy: first, do a bit of touch with yellow on reflecting surfaces. Next, give shading with appropriate color. (darker color than main one; the choice is up to you) If you color too many times, You'll have a messy(dark and not clean) result. The point is to balance between shallowness and messiness and extract the best result.
Finally, blur with soaked Q tips on the roughly colored surface. (I prefer Q-tips rather than brushes ^.^; )
One more: +You should think the 'mood color' of pic before scanning. For example, my "Xel_Zel underwater" [link] pic has the 'Cyan' as it. I colored with Pastel for that.
3) After scanning, give the lightening effect on Photoshop.
Two or Three times of Lense effect in the white space. (Photoshop menu: Filter->Rendering->Lense)
4) Add glow touch in his hair.
Photoshop tool: History brush->color dodge
---------------------------------------- ------------------
Now you got the about 80% of my 'secret'.^^ Finding or Modifying the remained 20% is up to you. Every artists should explore and find his/her unique methods, if he/she wants to have and claim his/her own originality. Please keep this in your mind.

Oh yeah, tools are important in drawing. ^_^ For the color pencil, once you buy a good one, you can use it for more several years. So its investment is definitely worth.
