The freak alien monster woman you see before you is human.

Descended of humanity, that is. One of the most highly-derived humans thought to have ever existed. A bored Manmaker Probe landed on a swampy, humid planet and decided to get creative. The fingers were extended into mangrove-like spider limbs for wading through mud, and the thumb nails were modified as simple graspers. The arms had all but fused and become worked into the shoulder to support the weight-bearing knuckles. The feet seem atavistic and monkey-like and functioned as a second pair of graspers. The ears were extended into a kind of sail, and the head was covered in a bizarre bony crest, likely used for ramming mating displays. Finally, the skin was made to be slimy, porous, and colorful, like an amphibian's.

They led a rather uneventful, medieval-level existence for thousands of years until the Terricans wiped them out. Digipeds are a testament to how eccentric some of the Manmaker Probes had been, and also how powerful they were when it came to manipulating the TEMPLATE of the human genome.
