Alright, so hear me out.

I figured that, since Starflight loves to read and learn, wouldn't it be sort of interesting for him (and just their entire species in general) to have really large ears (much like many species of bats and things)? You know, like, he can hear super well, and since he's the librarian for Jade Mountain Academy, he'd be perfect for scoping out wayward souls in his domain! I sort of have this headcanon that all NightWings are sort of akin to bats, and that they have these huge fangs that that can feed on insects, small mammals, and even blood with (but he doesn't like doing that because he thinks it's gross, so he, you know, doesn't), and his talons are built for delicate work, and not to mention his literal extra set of hands on his wings where he can grab extra scrolls and things like that.

This especially works because when he goes blind, he can not use his extra hands, but like many bats, wouldn't it be sort of neat for him and all NightWings to have a sort of echolocation? I thought so, so when I do a full character concept for him and his species, I'll add that in, too!
