With each art style improvement, the first thing that should be noticeable is that Tom's hair gets shorter in height and more realistic looking. This is not intentional, but it just happens. His hair has always been this slanted, which makes him resemble his real self a little more. That is intentional.
We all know who Tom Ridgewell is by now, but for any newcomers, he is the grump among his group of friends. Tom is the type of person to make a lot of sarcastic comments towards his friends and do a lot of... questionable things such as drinking. Because of his tolerant attitude to everything, he can be seen having an unamused reaction to most things but isn't above acting silly sometimes either. One of the things that can snap him out of his apathy and grumpiness is hurting his friends. Don't do it.
