This is the cover art, by artist James Gurney, for John DeChancie's "Starrigger" series of science fiction novels. This picture almost perfectly captures the elements of science fiction art that most appeal to me: the fantastic (future truck, alien landscape) next to the recognizable (anachronistic 1957 Chevy Bel Air).The books themselves are a pretty good read, but seriously, look up James Gurney's other works as well.
