Description
Did some minor tweaking to Jean Grey's Phoenix design for my Alternate Marvel Universe. Also did some minor tweaking to her backstory, primarily to her "Phoenix Manifestation", since in this alternate reality she is not connected to the so-called "Phoenix Force".

In this alternate Marvel Universe, Jean Grey is a current active X-man as well as an instructor and a medical assistant to Moira MacTaggert at the Institute. She joined the Xavier Institute as a high level telekinetic and a low level telepath and as part of the original X-Men operated under the codename of “Marvel Girl”.

It was while returning to Earth as the pilot of the orbital version Blackbird (specially created to allow the original X-Men team to travel to Asteroid M and confront Magneto and the original Brotherhood in one of their early battles) after the current X-Men team's first mission confronting Bolivar Trask and his Sentinels on his stealth concealed orbital platform base in space during a freak cosmic storm, Jean is bombarded by the cosmic rays that transform her in a similar manner to the Fantastic Four, enhancing her mutant powers to a higher level than she previously possessed.

Now known as Phoenix, her telekinetic powers are of an elevate degree that she is mentally able to rearrange matter on a molecular level with great effort and her once low level telepathic abilities are now fully developed. Only the telepathic abilities of her mentor Charles Xavier exceeds her own abilities in this alternate universe.

When utilizing her powers at full strength, especially when she is in telekinetic flight mode, her body is surrounded by a protective telekinetic/telepathic energy corona that closely resembles the shape of a gigantic bird, hence her current code name of Phoenix. Charles Xavier has speculated that the bird shape is Jean’s subconscious manifestation of her astral form on the physical plane while utilizing her full mutant abilities.

NOTE : While Phoenix is a powerful mutant in this alternate universe, she is not on the cosmic scale level of the mainstream incarnation due to her powers not being enhanced by the so called “Phoenix Force”.
