Description F-5F 73-0891 of the 425 TFTS, 405 TTW on the "Widows" ramp at Williams AFB.

Note the lenghtened fuselage for the F-5F over the F-5E. Later in the F-5F's life there were external stiffeners added to the forward fuselage.

Note the Radome for the Radar system. The F-5F kept one 20 MM cannon. There was a"fake" cannon barrell installed on the right position.

Note the centerline pylon is mounted much further aft than the F-5B's. The MLG inner doors are at an angle instead of vertical when opened in order to clear the external store when the gear is down [link] .

Of note was the pneumatic starter system installed under the ramp at Williams AFB. The T-38 and F-5 series of aircraft required external low pressure/ high volume air for engine start. Note the yellow cylinder behind the acft w/ the hose assy.

Williams AFB had installed this system to eliminate the need for a ground power unit for engine start.
