Description This is a simple method to create a fake tattoo that can last a long time (mine lasted over 24h). I used it to make the dragon mark in the chest of my Iron Fist costume.

WARNING: You should read well and try out every step to see if it works and if your skin reacts well. I'm not a doctor, but I wouldn't advise it on people with skin conditions. It didn't seem too harmful on me, but we're all different and it's a weird method.

SETUP
Remove all or most of the hair and clear the skin with a baby wipe or alcohol. Baby wipes are less agressive on the skin. The important thing is to not have anything that'll interfere with the drawing, including sweat or grease (they make the ink disperse and smudge).

STENCIL
If you feel confident about your drawing skills, you can skip this step. This is only to make it easier not to screw up.
Draw the shape on a piece of transfer paper using a pencil. The drawing should be mirrored (inverted), so it'll be correct when placed on the skin.
Then, place the stencil where you want the tattoo to be, with the drawing facing the skin and press with alcohol. The carbon should pass to the skin and leave a light mark, which will help you through the drawing process.

DRAWING
To do this I used black eyeliner. There are all sorts of brands and types which I admittedly know nothing about. I got one with fine point, so it'd be easier to draw. It also dries quickly, which is very helpful.
True, it's not a realistic tattoo, as it's too perfect and black, but for me this was perfect, because Iron Fist's tattoo isn't really a tattoo, but a sort of mystical mark. For a more realistic look, try different eyeliners (shops should have samples or be able to show you each one before you buy) or a different type of ink. Just beware of the harm it might do to your skin.
Also, since this was a complex and big design on my chest (not the easiest place to draw on), I asked for Cristina's help.

MAKING IT LAST
Spray with liquid bandage.
You can find this at pharmacies. They'll warn you to use it only on clean wounds, but for this purpose you shouldn't have wounds.
Regardless, be carefull and follow the instructions. Spray from a distance and be careful not to get any in your eyes or mouth.
Don't overdo it, but don't underdo it. This is why you should try it out first. Too little, and it won't work as well, but too much and your skin will look shiny and weird.
Also, on a side note, liquid bandage is an adhesive. Until you get used to it, your skin will feel funny and your hairs will feel like they're being pulled when you move, hence the "remove all hair" instruction at the SETUP.

Have fun

PS: Growing hairs on your chest itch a lot.

TAKING IT OFF
Rub with baby wipes. It should peel off. If not, rub with alcohol. Alcohol kinda dilutes it and smudges, so baby wipes are better.

NOTES
I wore a heavy bag that had a strap partially over the tattoo. After about 4h with the shirt rubbing on it, the left wing of the dragon started to crack a bit, but it actually looked better for my purpose.
