So... yeah! The final Part of this comic. BTW, When Jake gets cut off he was going to say "But he looks like me and never flashback around me until now."Which is partially true. Matthieu gets flashbacks of Alfred's death around Con, mostly because he looks and acts like Alfred did in his final moments. In contrast, Quebec gets much more pleasant flashbacks around Union... usually. In the first strip, Union's stubborn concern reminded Matthieu of a similar argument he had with Al...

I love that comic to death.
For me, it's that I'm mostly fine with tech, if you can ignore the random glitches (which I've gotten really good at) but occasionally I get these massive, massive failures. I've had my old laptop's harddrive spontaneously canabalize itself THREE TIMES. In six months. With about three weeks to get it replaced. T-T'' The techies at FutureShop continue to be utterly baffled. Apparently that kind of harddisk failure is really rare. *sigh*

And yeah, that makes total sense. That's the reason we did this, because Quebec coming to turns with this can of worms is such a huge bit of his character.

I can imagine the trauma will take a long time to get over, especially with Jake and Jack around. But he seems less affected than Arthur (who apparently completely lost it)...? I kind of want to hug them all and make it all better ;_;

BTW - Arthur in this universe was... "shifted" a bit. He's less emotionally interested in most people/things but what DOES get through to him, he obsesses over. So when he lost Al.... (Who was one of those people) Yeah.

First battle that British troops joined. (In this universe, the British allied with the Confederacy) Al got shot then - by England (so England has the additional weight of having killed one of the few "people" he likes.) England.... is messed up.

Yes and No, England is confused by Con - he does a lot of things similar to Al, but he isn't Al. England almost doesn't care about Con, except when Con looks particularly Al-ish, and then he flips out.

Wellllllll, now that you mention it, I DO have a couple more questions related to the AU....
Why did Russia attack Canada? For that matter, is Canada's lost arm a nation-tan in its own right? Did France demilitarize or what? Can you elaborate on the state of WWII's fronts--for that matter, wtf is going on with the Pacific? Is China still in bits and pieces? Is India still British? What's going on in Europe?

Okay... In order:
1) Bolshevik revolution. Russia himself isn't exactly sure why, but it's partially in character - keep in mind, there's no Mutually Assured destruction, no equally strong and opposed single power, no nukes, etc. Russia is also a sneakier bastard in this AU (but only when he's ordered to be by his boss) Basically, lots of little reasons but no set big one.
2) Partially. I'd need to do a historical vs modern day territory picture to fully explain.
3) France is a powerful country in this world, ditto Prussia. Russia wouldn't have moved until they /started/ to demilitarize, but those two are basically going about it painfully slow - Like the US and it's Nukes.
4) That will be explained in the story, I promise I'll do some maps showing who holds which lands and where the battles are
5) I need to talk to Dakt on this one...

7) No, it's also one of Russia's allies

actually, shouldn't he die at the end? like in the big final battle or whatever, when the union has to finally concede defeat and the united states is officially dissolved... >_>

Maybe he gets shot the first battle with England, but manages to survive until the end? Like, he's at the battle and doing "well" when his stitches come undone and he starts bleeding. Some of the men around him drag him to a medical tent, where doctors decide to try and operate to get the bullet out (Only, it's not where they thought - it's in his bloodstream now, floating towards his heart). Quebec, meanwhile, just arrived at the place wear the medical and command tents are and starts asking after Al. He finds them after the surgeons closed him and and gave up on him. They talk for a bit. During a lull in the battle, a Confederate envoy goes to the Union camp and demands the surrender of the entire army. England's in the envoy and braeks off to find Alfred. They talk through the tent wall, something dramatic about the surrender... (England knows it's a medical tent, but thinks Al's in there to say goodbye to dying soldiers, especially since all Al sounds like is a bit tired and a bit in pain
Then England says, "It seems you'll have a younger brother, soon."
Al responds, "Nah, you'll have two, older brother. Take care of 'em"
England proceeds to flip out and ask why and how. Al is still calm, even though he knows he's dying....
"You're the one that killed me, after all. That time you shot me? The bullet is heading to my hear-" *Dies*
And We've talked about England being like this a while back....

i don't think an entire bullet could float through your system like that... i think it'd be more likely that he'd die of some sort of lead poisoning?
al wouldn't tell arthur to take care of his constituents, even to be a snarkbucket. i think he'd more go down in a blaze of "this vindictive little smirk i'm giving you now will haunt your dreams forever. have fun with THAT, bastard". he'd be calm in WHAT he says, sure. but in a creepy way.
it's been established that quebec physically observes al's death.... maybe he's hurrying in just as al finally goes down, and then freaks out all over england and is dragged out of the tent...? OH OH brain thought. in the final decisive battle, the union is severely outmatched because their quebecois backup was surrounded and held up en route. when the ceasefire is called on the main battlefield, a few quebecois generals (or whatever the people in charge are, idk

I really want to go back and put a black background under the "I'm Sorry" just to make it more/less ambiguous? I won't though, ending it in black seems too final. This is the issue coming to light, not being solved. *Scratches head* Pff, if we continue this until this issue is completely solved and they work through everything, I'll end THAT strip in black - maybe with little "creeeeeak, creak" sounds effects, implying... yeah. 8D
