Description Name: Nathaniel Galunggung Schenectady
Class: SS 1200 ( batch 2 ) later DD51
Number: SS 1210 later DKA/PNKA DD5102
Wheel arrangement: 2-8-8-0
Builder: American Locomotive Company ( ALCO )
arrival: late 1919 / early 1920
owner: Staatsspoorwegen later Djawatan Kereta Api - Perusahaan Negara Kereta Api
Retired: 1960s

Nathaniel was used for expresses in the Priangan Mountains of West Java from 1919-1941
He was known for his rude behaviour towards other engines such as the Chemnitzer 2-6-0Ts and Hanomag 4-4-0s.
In 1942 he and his classmates were renumbered to DD51 ( his siblings from the first batch would be retired in 1938 and used for spares due to cracks )
The SS 1200 series of engines weren't very successful to say the least...they were inefficient and costly to maintain
Their backpressure problems made it worse...

He and his siblings would be withdrawn during the 60s.

I haven't got the slightest idea what colour of boiler rings did these mallets used during the colonial years, it's either silver or yellow.
