Of course you have the right to your point of view. You should also file a complaint to Disney for portraying Tarzan that way, after all he got tanned too.
What you seem to be missing is: what is the original like? Tanned. What did Dave do? He got tanned too. That's not even make up. Re-creating a scene as close as possible to the original is part of cosplay photography. Should somebody ask me to photograph a black-face character, don't worry: I'll do that, and I won't feel even the slightly bit of racism in what I do. Racism is entirely another thing, to me.

To get the proper costume..You need to get your skin right too. If I were doing someone of a different race and I was honestly trying my hardest to match the costume..I would get a temp. tan too. If it was someone really white..Like paper..I would put a spray or paint on my skin. Not really racist. It's accuracy.

I have but altering your skin color to look more "native" whatever is the same thing as black face aka racist. I don't even know this person so I have no idea how popular he/she may be on DA. The topic here is Tarzan, and Tarzan was never a native of Africa. His parents were English, so the man was as white as can be - even in the books his father was a British lord and in the Disney movie as a baby he is clearly white. However, he grew up in the jungle and was raised by apes, hence he ended up with a serious tan, which is completely natural. There is a big difference between an actual native of anywhere and having a tan. If you want to talk serious blackface, then that movie Tropic Thunder is where you ought to look. Robert Downey Jr. as a black man...honestly even I was shocked that didn't get a whole lot more backlash.

I'm the photographer of both the Tarzan and Beauty and the Beast set. Dave is a white guy, when he performed as Gaston it was the end of April, while the Tarzan set has been shot on July 31st, when he came back from his holidays, very tanned as we (me and Falketta) recommended him to do.
So, basically, Dave is a very tanned white guy. Just as Tarzan.

And not every white person is stuck being pasty white. There are things called tans, and stage makeup. But there is nothing insulting about that picture- That is not blackface, for one thing.

There is a difference. The point in cosplay is to represent a character as accurately as possible, and Tarzan just so happened to have a deep tan.
