Heh, just be careful you don't join up too early, either. I once went there right from Helgen, and instead of an Ice Wraithe, there was a wolf waiting for me. Gally-Bear lied to me.

No, it still worked, that wolf was my ice wraith, and it counted toward the quest. Good thing, because it's more than a little tedious getting to that island at level three.
