To be honest I agree with alot of people who posted before me, the photo isn't quite deserving of a DD.
I'm no lighting expert, but judging from shadows and the catchlight in her eyes, you only used one light for this and left the background unlit, the light is too harsh and results in heavy dark shadows across her arms. Her skin tone is off in a way which looks underexposed.. and I think it probably is, did you underexpose the photo and just dodge her face a little? The whites of her eyes look out of place, too.
The composition is so-so, way too much wasted headroom, I think she probably should have brushed her hair also... you said that a frightened "just-raped" look wasn't what you aimed to acheive, yet you've done it here...
Her expression is priceless though, I think you probably needed to shoot the flash to the right through a softbox instead, and maybe had a gold reflector on the opposite side to fill in a couple of shadows in her hair.
By the way.... when I mentioned before that the shot wasn't worthy of a DD, you shouldn't take that as a purely negative comment... it's just that in the past, the chosen daily deviations were the kind of shots which make your jaw drop, recently they've been slacking a little....

How is it not deserving of a DD?
A DD is an admin feature with no, I repeat NO set criteria. It's not an award, nor is it for popularity. The admin chooses it because s/he likes it.
Why did I choose it? Because I like it.

Thanks for the critic.....And the time spent on it. I am not a specialist of the DDs and I can't compare this, or the other one I had a few days ago, to the others. Still I appreciate what you say.....

I"m no photography major that I can go "yes, my crit is valid" but...she looks too dull, lifeless and toned down, save for the freakishly bright lighting on her face - I can totally understand wanting the face to be the focal point in something like this...but it's too bright. Reminds me of what happens when you toss a grey layer over something in photoshop, honestly.
She's kind of mussed up and ...well..blah. Her hair is messy, but not in an "artist" manner to me - it's like she forgot to brush it... I'd say it was just me, but..I can tell it's not.

Lovely dear! I always enjoy your photograhps, you really push the medium.
Since I come from the 3D side of the fence, It cracks me up that everyone thinks 'shes rendered'. Wasnt that long ago that you could barely get a photorealistic model in the rendered way, and now photos are compared to 3D models! Very strange!
And for the record, I dont think shes 'too' skinny, Ive seen your other pictures of her and shes fine. Very pretty, fantastic lighting, great work!

Its interesting all the comments that imply that "I could do better" type of attitude. To them I say maybe, but they didnt and you did fb101. DD is nothing more than a popularity contest anyway just like a pageview counter. If thats all certain people are looking for they are in the wrong community or maybe I am in the wrong community. Art to me isnt about pageviews or DD's or even favorites. Its about expressing yourself and letting others see that inside of you. Congradulations on your award I feel it is well deserved you are an amazing photographer and I am still but a student so I shall be watching you in hopes of learning new things.

I feel like you do, but I have to admit that a DD is an opportunity to have a dialog with interesting people who feel like you do and that it is easy to ignore those who have too different a vision or attitude!

This is very nicely done. Is the spot on her face from a snood or is it photoshop work? (the only reason I speculate is because her hair on either side of her face hasn't caught any light) Either way, it is a very interesting effect and I think it makes the photo.

Wow.. I love that, The Pose is Superb, if I see her as an Angel as fb101 thinks, I would see as a Confused Angel, without Orientation.. something got lost.. feel different. As I say the Pose, the Arms, marbelous.. The Face looks almost as it would be a Painted Comic.. extrange to tell.. but I am very Captivated about that Shot.. look im just skimming through the comments before i make mine but i mean come on, u judging her for her bone structure is the same thing as judging a plus size woman for her broad sholders and hip bones. i do think she looks unbelieveably skinny but is he says she isnt u kno, ill take his word on it. some people, some women can be 95lbs and be completly healthy, and yes i kno i have a nutritionist in the family. it all depends on how ur built, now i kno u said some people dont like that look, some people dont like the look of plus size chics does that mean they should have to suffer too? i kno the feeling, i am tired of seeing a bunch of perfect chics too, but 1 um its their account they can if they want to and 2 u have no control over it just dont look............. im sorry but i just had to say something...........

She's really quite expressive, and has amazing eyes.
Other than that, it looks to me as if the photo was shot bright, and then darkened up except in the face. There's nothing wrong with that, mind you. I'm just curious if I'm right.

this shot is breathtaking. her features scream "barbie" but the pose and lighting make it darker and deeper than just her apperance. Its not what is displayed in this picture, but more so what is not standing out, that makes this photo so captivating. Brilliant work.

I have to agree with the comment on the lighting perhaps being too dark. It really brings out her eyes, however the effect desired may not be at it's full potential. I was giving some more thought to this piece after I looked at it yesterday, and I was also wondering what other poses you could take advantage of. Her self-embracing pose gives an interesting dimension to a piece that is suposed to be a "dialogue". I really saw what perhaps what you wanted to portray with it, but also wanted a little more to happen in terms of lighting. Maybe in the future even some digital play could be used for a fun turn. Altogether a lovely work.

I was just scrolling along today, and I saw this picture in the DD. Normally, I wouldn't click pictures of half naked women, but this time, I just had to see because for some reason, she looked a lot like a cged picture. Even up close! Then I looked at it again, she was real. I read some of the comments, and they were very harsh. D:
Personally, I love this picture because of the simplicity. I don't understand why everyone's complaining about her body being "dull". I think the main idea of this photograph is to focus on her face and not her body. I think the lighting is beautiful.
