Description
A really big mistake of palentology!!!The poor Oviraptor philoceratops ( his name means "egg thief" and "lover of ceratopsians" ) was named this way because of the first fossil beeing found over a nest that was supposed to be filled with protoceratops eggs... recently they discovered it was just a mother protecting her eggs from a sandstorm!
This gave me this silly idea of the Police Dept. in Mongolia, in late Cretaceous.
"This is the history of the Hurricane, the man the authorities came to blame... for something that he never done..."
Man... I may have broken something inside my head this easter... or maybe it's the clown flu! heheh sorry for the silly jokes

It was also likely that, since the theropod had its skull crushed, the ceratopsian was stealing its eggs and killed the parent in the process.

Protoceratops stealing eggs?

It was an omnivore, and the Oviraptor holotype had its skull crushed, so I speculate that what probably happened was that the ceratopsian tried to steal the theropod's eggs and killed the parent to do it, but was interrupted by a sandstorm or sand avalanche.

I think the best name for Oviraptor now would be Ovinutrix which means "Egg Nurse" rather than "Egg Theif"

Yep! They are changing a lot of scientific names lately, not only for prehistoric, but live animals as well... they should consider that!

Yeah, I guess, but changing the names of live animals!? Seems a bit silly, it's sad that Anatotitan and Seismosaurus don't exist anymore.

I like cartoony dinos (especially when the dinos involved are otherwise accurate, as is the case here). There are 2 things in particular I like about this deviation: The look on the Oviraptor's face as if it's thinking, "Oh no looks like hard times for Oviraptor"; The irony of the Velociraptor (I.e. The "speedy thief") being a cop.

Thaaaank you so much friend!!! And what a nice irony you found on the raptor, I must confess I've never looked it that way before!

Another one being that it was the CERATOPSIAN that was most likely the real nest raider.

Yeah, the idea that Oviraptor was a vicious egg thief has since been proven questionable after the discovery of its close relative Citipati which was clearly a caring parent among Theropods. As a matter of fact, there isn't any real hard evidence that Oviraptorids ate eggs, although their beaks were certainly well suited for cracking through shells. The best preserved stomach contents of one specimen showed the mangled bones of a lizard so they were at least partially carnivorous.

It is SUPERRR awesome that u love paleotology as much as I do!!! And it's even better u make cartoony and silly ones (something i always wanted to do, but I don't have the time (and programs)) And also the fact that u gave the dinos have their accreate appearences, like giving the raptor and oviraptor FEATHERS!
