Description
Chapter 6The gentle sound of tapping echoed around the room, Light looked at Ryuzaki before it stopped. Ryuzaki had been working for 3 hours straight looking at the synchrotron radiation and anything liked to it being emitted by a human. There wasn't anything. Even after gaining access into the high security level files proved to be useless. It was like he didn't exist. Light flicked through the news before something caught his attention.
"Ryuzaki, look at this!" Light yelled as he clicked on the link. Ryuzaki lazily looked over towards Light; his face remained as emotionless as it usually was.
"What is it Light?" He asked Light.
"Kira has taken another life!" Ryuzaki's eyes went wide in surprise. Kira was active again?
"Who did Kira kill this time?"
"Eita Keisuke. A young male who was just released from his 8 year sentence was found dead in his apartment. His crime wasn't specified," Light said as he scanned through the news report. Ryuzaki was watching over his shoulder.
"So, Kira's decided to jump back into the game? Well, it would be a disaster if the masked man and Kira were on the same team, wouldn't you say?" Ryuzaki asked Light. He nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, both of them get punished for murder."
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
Hei looked at his ice cream, not really in the mood to do much after Misa dragged him to the park. Because of the beautiful weather, everyone was out and enjoying themselves. Misa was sitting next to him happily licking her ice cream (and getting some on her nose) and just having a good time. Hei looked at the couples all enjoying the sun and each other.
'Yin,' Hei sighed mentally, picturing the few times when both of them had a day off. Sitting down at the park with Mao the cat and just hanging out. Huang was always doing what he did when given a day off. Yin always took off her shoes and socks to dip her feet into the river they always went to. Yin used her spectre to see her surroundings. Mao was normally curled up on either Yin or himself while being petted unconsciously by either of them. It didn't look like or feel like much but it made the situation better.
Now Hei was stuck in a world he didn't know, people he didn't really want to get on with and the nagging feeling that he was going to be locked up for a good few weeks when his Syndicate caught him and punished him. Groaning about it now will only cause suspicion. He already knew that Ryuzaki didn't like nor trust him. Keeping his head down was going to be the only thing possible he could do which proved to be useful. The cameras around the place seemed to be focused on him, making him on guard.
"Li, ice cream is so delicious on a hot day like this!" Misa yelled with excitement.
"Well, on a hot day like this, it's a great counterbalance," Hei smiled at the young female.
"Well, ice cream always helps with heat."
"Yup, they increase the production of ice cream every summer due to the demands to stay cool."
"Aren't you full of interesting facts?"
"That's what school did to me. Filled me bits of random information which plays no part in society," Hei laughed slightly. It was half true, he did pick up bits of general knowledge while studying but he didn't really find a place where he could let it go. Misa stopped to look at him, a small smile on his face.
"Sounds like you had fun in school."
"I didn't. It was really just me on my own, I didn't have many friends. Even now I only have a selected few friends."
"Can you name them?"
"Yeah, I can name them. I've got a friend called Yin, we have a special brother and sister relationship between us. Then there's Mao, he's a black cat but still a friend. Then there's Huang, he checks up on me and makes sure that I'm doing the best I can and then there's Misaki Kirihara. She's one member of the police force back in Tokyo. She's been after this serial killer for a while. He's been escaping her for a while."
"So, you are buddies with the police?" Misa asked him.
"I only have one friend in the police but she's a really close friend."
"That's good to hear, glad to have friends in high places."
"I met Light and Ryuzaki yesterday," Hei told Misa.
"How was he?" She asked him. Misa had the growing feeling that Light would have attacked Li for hanging out with her.
"He was pretty friendly, Ryuzaki was a bit out of the ordinary though," Hei admitted.
"He's like that with everyone. Don't worry about him."
"I wasn't, he did freak me out a bit," Hei said as he scratched the back of his neck slightly. Misa giggled, she knew that Ryuzaki was like that to everyone so hearing that from Li wasn't anything special.
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
Crackles from the torch light echoed around the empty chamber. Chess boards scattered the stone cold floor. Pieces were scattered around the floor, each piece resembled characters from different shows, films and other places. Located in the centre of the room was a large white portal, looking through the portal, it opened up to the park. The attention was focused on Hei and Misa hanging out together. The sound footsteps echoed around the room.
"How are you enjoying this realm Hei? Why are you having little fun? Is it because you're bored? Well, I'll soon sort that out for you," A female voice purred in the chamber. The shadows concealed her appearance while the portal shifted the image present. "I'll give you a little playmate."
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
L watched the city through the use of CCTV. Light had long fallen asleep while wearing a sleeping mask to stop the blaring screen from disturbing his sleep. L was being as quiet as possible while pressing the keys on the key board. There wasn't anything happening in the city, but L wouldn't be able to sleep (if he did) knowing that both Kira and the masked man were still out on the loose.
L's eyes widened when something black zoomed past the camera. L's hands quickly went to work as he stopped the camera and rewound the video backwards. It wasn't that hard to rewind the video. L frantically worked before he smiled. The slowed down image was the masked man swinging past one of the cameras.
"Found you," L muttered quietly as he fixed all the cameras to follow the masked man. L increased the speed of the cameras to keep the masked man in their sight. He moved quickly it wasn't easy to keep track of him; L was struggling to keep up with the masked man as he zoomed through the night sky.
The cameras stopped when the masked man landed on the floor, retracting his wire once he landed. He frantically looked around for something; L slowly moved his face closer to the computer screen. The whole idea that the masked man was looking around for something wasn't a good sign. L watched the masked man, before the masked man moved as L's eyes fell on a light blue whip came and destroyed the ground around the area. His eyes widened once more before he pulled up a special program which measured energy levels along with what was being used.
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
Hei avoided another attack from the energy whip. The ground around the collision of the whip was instantly destroyed. Hei frantically looked around before he noticed the Contractor who was hunting him down. His eyes fell on a young female with dark blue eyes and dressed in black, just like himself. Hei couldn't help but smile on the inside, finally having some sort of challenge. He knew that he had to be careful around Light, Ryuzaki and Misa or they were going to get dragged into his battle and that wasn't acceptable. They weren't even from his realm so he saw no reason to get them tied into this mess. Even he had the chance to escape the mess before he got tangled up in it...but he went against it. Letting himself get tangled up inside the mess.
"You should stay still BK-201," Hei heard a cold, blank voice say. He looked up to see the contractor he was facing. He couldn't pin point the name of the contractor but he knew that she wasn't going to be a walk in the park either. Unlike most other contractors from the past, she looked trained to fight against him.
The opposing contractor readied her energy whip and lashed out at Hei once more, damaging the surrounding area where the whip missed Hei. Hei had managed to pull off a back flip to avoid the whip and heard the destruction of the ground where he once stood. He needed to wrap this up quickly or do something about it to make a getaway. Hei didn't want to kill her. No. That'll remove the excitement from here but if she found him while acting as Li then things were going to get complicated. He wasn't even sure how she got here but it gave him hope that there was a way for him to return home.
She lashed out once more; Hei did his best to avoid everything she was throwing at him. Using his agility and training to his advantage, he managed to escape from her sight and threw his wire. The wire wrapped around a metal pole and secured itself around it. A small click gave the sound Hei was looking before he pushed a button on his belt, the wire tried to retract back to Hei's belt and he jumped, letting himself get pulled by the area where his wire was before he landed. Unclipping the belt from his belt he reached up to the contractor and placed his hand on the back of her head. Before she had a chance to react, Hei unleashed his ability. The female contractor screamed in pain before she fell backwards. Hei had caught her and gently lay her down. The blue energy cable which she held changed back into a normal to a normal whip and released from her hand.
"I've only paralysed you. I can't let you die too soon," Hei whispered into her ear before he went to retrieve the wire from the pole it attached itself too. Obtaining his wire, Hei fled the scene and out of the camera's field of vision.
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
The sun started to rise as Light stirred from his sleep. He had already suspected that Ryuzaki was up all night and he would have been surprised if he wasn't. Removing the mask and earplugs from his face and ears he placed them in a draw by the side of the bed. The bedside cabinet only had a lamp sitting on the side. Light gently rubbed the sleep from his eyes and looked around. As usual, Ryuzaki had handcuffed him to the bed while he worked on the computer. Peeking over to what Ryuzaki was doing he saw graphs and piles of data pilling up on the screen.
"Ryuzaki, what are you doing?" Light asked the black haired male. Ryuzaki didn't even bother looking at Light; his mind was busy calculating what exactly happened last night and how he had managed to lose the masked man so easily. It wasn't possible to lose him that quickly. He blended into the night so easily it was impossible for a human to do so.
"Unless he is an experiment...?" Ryuzaki muttered quietly as he bit down on his thumb.
"What are you talking about Ryuzaki?" Light asked, catching something the male had said but he wasn't quite sure what he had caught from him. No doubt that Ryuzaki had managed to spend the whole night watching the masked man.
"Light, he was fighting someone else who gave off the Synchrotron radiation. Something was going on."
"Ryuzaki, can you let me go off handcuffs and let me get breakfast?" Light asked. Once again, Light was ignored. He hated being ignored but trying to convince Ryuzaki of something wasn't going to be easy at all. He was still a Kira suspect, along with Misa but she got more freedom than he did. Light was constantly with Ryuzaki while Misa was free. She was probably with her friend Li which made things really frustrating. She was his girlfriend and that was all that mattered. Not some silly new boy coming and ruining his relationship with Misa. He couldn't help but wonder what Misa was doing now.
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
"You didn't kill her..." The female pondered in her dark room. Moving a chess piece off the main board she was sitting in front of and moved it off the board. Getting up from her spot on the ground she walked over to another chess board. The pieces scattered all over the board. Sitting down she picked up the black pawns and whipped the board off. The pieces scattered across the ground with the clatter of wooden figures on the ground. "Why didn't you kill her? Didn't you want excitement? That's what I gave you!" She yelled.
"You shouldn't try and stop the plan in action." She heard a voice and turned around. Standing behind her was Ryuk. His golden eyes with red pupils were fixed on the young female.
"Why would I interfere with Kira? I got bored with how life was and threw something extra in."
"You're boredom is what's getting the plan to start failing."
"What makes you say that Shinigami?"
"The way your play toy and Misa are getting along it wouldn't surprise me if she left Light."
"And that's my fault? It isn't my fault that the female was too weak to resist him."
"You're a female." Ryuk pointed out.
"I'm not weak like she is!"
"So little hum-"
"I'm not human!" She yelled at Ryuk. Ryuk started laughing. She was so easily wound up because she looked human. In fact she was more dangerous than a human. Ryuk smiled happily seeing the young female irritated. Teasing her was a favourite thing just like it is teasing Light and questioning him.
"Well, you seem interesting. Just like Light and the other humans back on earth."
"How did you get here anyway?"
"We Shinigami have our ways."
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
Misa quickly skipped towards the special headquarters where Ryuzaki and Light were. She had spent enough time with Li and needed to spend a good few days with Light. He was the most important to her and this was going to be one of the days when Light was actually free to hang out with her. She skipped up the steps of the building and pressed the buzzer.
"Ryuzaki, I'm here to see Light," Misa said. She was full of energy that she was going to drag Light out of the building with Ryuzaki with him. Sure the last time she brought the two of them out there was some trouble but in broad daylight it shouldn't be much trouble. Sure Kira was becoming active again but that shouldn't stop the fact that Light couldn't hang out with her, right?
"Come in Misa." A voice came through the speaker before a buzzing sound was heard. Misa laughed as she pulled the door open and skipped inside. The inside was just as calm as it was before. Light was thankfully down with Ryuzaki. It looked like Light was doing his best to get Ryuzaki outside. It wasn't something that Misa was used to seeing but if it was to meet up with her, then she could deal with it.
"Light, I'm here," Misa yelled excitedly. Light turned his attention to Misa and smiled.
"Misa, I'm so glad you're here," Light said. Ryuzaki turned his attention towards Misa and just stared at her. She had the most contact of Li and he was the most suspicious person to be the masked man. He'll have to look into it later, at the moment he'll have reports of Kira to worry about.
"What's wrong Light?" Misa asked.
"Nothing, we're going to be dragging Ryuzaki out while we walk around town or something?" Light asked. Misa agreed with what Light had suggested.
"Maybe we'll be able to go to the cinema too?" Misa asked as her eyes sparkled.
"You both do realise that I'm going to be here...right?" Ryuzaki asked the two of them. Light and Misa continued a conversation that Ryuzaki's voice was ignored.
The Death Spark – Chapter 6
L's mind was busy working out what was going on. Two beings which both gave off supernatural abilities and then to top it all off a death from Kira. Something was going on here and he didn't like it. If they were working together then there was something that needed to be done. He couldn't let three 'untouchable' beings remain on the streets. It was bad enough when Kira was the only threat on the streets. The videos didn't make any sense and many questions remained swirling around L's mind. Loose connections he desperately wanted to connect to something. He didn't like the way things were un-connected and impossible to figure out. Sure it gave him the challenge but without anything to go on it wasn't easy to make a start. He knew the radiation which was given off.
"BK-201..." L muttered quietly. What did those figures mean when put in that order? Light and Misa weren't paying any attention to him or they chose not to. He felt the tug on the handcuff causing L to look up at his Kira suspect.
"We're going outside." Light said and L groaned.
