Description
The Serpent's PotionBy FireCacodemon
The forest was as dense as it could possibly be. Millions of tall trees reached up towards the skies to try and steal as much sunlight as possible. With the branches stretching out as far as the tree would let them you'd think it would be impossible for plants to grow along the bottom of the forest. Yet the smaller plants found their own way to get sunlight. Despite the trees efforts sunlight always seemed to get through their multiple branches and leaves. There were small patches of sunlight always hitting the forest floor and that was where the smaller plants were getting their rays of the giant fireball in the clear blue sky.
Hidden in the depths of the forest stood a lonely building crafted by the hands of the owner. The owner of the house was a serpent like creature which could be rumoured to be from mythology itself. A creature with the ability to shapeshift into alternative forms to suit those who come to its home. The building itself had a thatched roof with a special potion worked into the roof to keep it from becoming too damaged from the weather. The walls of the house were made from stone with the cement holding the stones together crafted with the special potion added into the cement.
The serpent's name was Shikrilent. Her bottom half of her body was much like a snake, covered in scales coloured of a teal green and a rich purple colour. The tip of her tail consisted of a rattlesnake rattle which was decorated with small jewels which sparkled in the sunlight. The top half of her body was that of a woman's body with medium sized breasts along with pale skin, aquatic blue eyes and sharp claws where her hands are. Sharp fangs poked out from the corners of her mouth. Her 'hair' was wild and untameable with small serpent heads at the end indicating that she had serpents for hair. Shikrilent specialised in making potions from the herbs that grew around the forest or by using animal products or the animals themselves for her potions. Very rarely did Shikrilent receive any human visitors to her home. It was in the middle of the forest so that probably didn't help her. There was one visitor that often came to see her.
"Making another potion?" Shikrilent turned her attention towards the source of the voice. Standing near the window was a small white and black kitten with sharp golden eyes. The voice the kitten spoke of was a simple child's voice which could easily be mistake for a females' voice but the gender of the kitten was a male. "May I come in?"
"You're jusssst in time Ssssscrattle. The potion isssss nearly complete," she hissed with joy while she continued to stir up the mixture contained within a large black cauldron cooking over a fire.
"Oh? What potion are you making?" Scrattle asked with curiosity as he slowly approached the cauldron.
"Jusssst a potion with the effectssss to confussse my enemiessss." Shikrilent spoke with joy in her words. Scrattle hesitated to continue his walk forwards. He remembered the last few times that he had gotten close to a potion while Shikrilent wasn't there…she wasn't happy when she came back to find that the potion had been spilt because of him. The glares Scrattle had received for weeks still haunted his cat dreams. Her snake hair had hissed at him for many weeks too further scaring the kitten away.
"Will you place it into throwing flasks?"
"Yesss."
"Can I find them?"
"You can try. They're over there." She never took her eyes off the potion liquid, but she pointed towards her stock room. Scrattle looked around the cupboard.
The cupboard opened further than Scrattle thought possible. The house didn't look that big from the outside…then again, the owner of the house was a serpent mythological creature so having a cupboard larger than the house didn't feel like it should be impossible. Scrattle looked around.
On the many shelves were large glass jars filled with different ingredients for potions. Some jars were filled with eyes from a variety of species or jars full of eyes of certain colours, abilities, if they were healthy or not. Other jars were filled with talons from multiple different bird species or even other mythical creatures. A few other jars contained plants of multiple species with different flowers blooming. Scrattle didn't want to know what sort of flowers Shikrilent was growing and he knew that they were for her potions. Looking around more his eyes fell on the throwing flasks. He couldn't reach them of course but he could see that Shikrilent had a good supply for when the potion was ready. Scrattle turned around and headed out the cupboard.
"You have some," he meowed happily.
"Excellent. Thankssss." Skirilent continued to stir the potion before she sighed. The potion turned a copper colour and the scent turned vile. "The potion isss complete."
