Chapter 16

Misaki watched as Li was breathing peacefully, she wanted to ask so many questions but with the condition that he was in, Li shouldn't have even been involved with contractors, let alone getting attacked by a contractor for something Li probably wouldn't have that would interest one. Li wasn't anything special to a contractor, just an individual who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. November 11 wasn't going to tell her anything. They had all seen Li run in front of the laser beam, there wasn't anything that possessed Li to jump in front of the laser and take it. Misaki couldn't understand what was going on in Li's mind but in retrospect, it did save her and the other members of Section 3. When the laser should have gone through him like he wasn't in the way, instead the laser failed to pass through him. She would have to investigate that later, for now, Li needed to rest and recover. She wasn't sure if Li was awake or not but she had the small idea that he was.

Hei couldn't bear to face the world at the moment, he felt so weird and isolated at the same time. Two feelings that he didn't think were possible. It was bad enough his presence was making November 11 evolve into a contractor more in tune to his emotions. He wasn't even sure what he was evolving into. He wasn't like the other contractors to begin with...no payment, still holding onto some emotions while others were buried deep down inside himself...he clearly didn't act like a contractor most of the time as Havoc had told him, he was worse back during Heaven's War than the way he was now. Havoc even told him that he was worse during Heaven's War than he was now. Maybe he was letting his feelings for his precious sister to cloud his judgement? It seemed possible that it had happened. For what he knew, Hei himself still had his human faults in him. He had 'friends' something contractors wouldn't have, they would have allies. He was friends with Yin, Mao and Misaki. Huang was still unknown what category he would fit into but friend wasn't that.

Now he was with November 11, a contractor who was starting to shed his contractor nature very slowly to pick up a more human approach, he already fitted into society well, but he wasn't perfect unlike Hei, he was a contractor. November 11 was a cold blooded killer when he needed to be, a perfect gentleman when he wanted to be, an ally when it suited him unlike Hei. Hei couldn't be a gentle man. He has his name, Li Shengshun, the name of innocence. The name which got him through life, after his real name was stripped from him by the Syndicate, they gave him his codename and his alias. They stripped his birth name and killed his parents because they protected him and his sister. November 11...older than him, looking after him...he shouldn't think about him than anything but a contractor. November 11 had pointed out before he was cursed, marked souls and then stole them not long later. That was his duty as the Black Reaper...but he didn't mark the souls, he was ordered to kill that person, contractor...or child...the Syndicate feared. He should be talking to Misaki, telling her that she shouldn't worry but he couldn't.

"I've got to go to work; I'll be back when I can." He heard Misaki say as she got up from her seat. Work, something Hei couldn't do while November 11 had him in his hands. Not even now when he was in hospital has he had any connection to him team. He couldn't just get up and join them like nothing had happened, Yin could contact July if water and glass were together but he wouldn't be seeing her so soon.

"Okay..." Hei responded in his 'Li' voice, he rolled over to smile at her. Fake, but she wouldn't be able to detect it.

"When you're ready to talk...let me know, okay?" She asked him. A simple nod and she left him alone in the hospital room. He hated it.

November 11 wasn't even sure what he was doing, he was following orders from Decade, but it didn't feel right. BK-201 was in hospital so his order to bring him to the MI-6 wasn't going to happen. It wouldn't be fair to hand him over when he was in hospital...he wasn't going to hand over BK-201 to them anyway; they would have to catch him their selves. He had spent too long building up this relationship with BK-201 and that was just a struggle. Once BK-201 is out of hospital, he wasn't even sure what he would be doing. Would BK-201 want him around when he failed to protect him from LE-192? Would he want him to look after him or just leave him alone? So many questions swam through his mind he failed to see April and July come up to him.

"Hey one-one, are you still moping around?" April asked. November 11 quickly looked up to her but didn't say anything. "Damn, that kid has had a huge impact on you. Look, you did what you could."

"I didn't do enough to protect him!"

"Don't you think you're getting too attached to him?" April asked concerned for her ally.

"MI-6 want him, I can't turn him in if he's in a bad condition which wasn't my fault."

"Nice cover up one-one. We both know that you don't have any intentions of handing over BK-201, you've grown attached to him."

"He's just...hard to understand...and I want to."

"You'll be asking for a death wish in a minute."

"Is it wrong to want to understand?" November 11 asked.

"In this case...yes..."

"Hei..." A soft voice came from November 11. April, July and November 11 turned to see a young silver haired female wearing a gothic dress is soft lilac eyes. "Take me to Hei...please?" She asked politely.
