Description
Chapter 19The longer November 11 watched over the Black Reaper while he recovered, he felt fear rising up inside of him. He felt a storm coming, a storm which was going to separate the two of them and make them enemies once again. November 11 watched the slow breathing of his companion and gently smiled. Li had fallen asleep shortly after dinner, he may be demanding when he came to food but November 11 was starting to understand why he was. Since he brought Li home, he felt himself feeling a lot healthier. Without him paying his debt to his contractor power, he wasn't smoking as much either. November 11 gentle sat down on the end of the bed and withdrew out the small black book and a pen from his pocket before he flicked through the pages, smiling when he found a blank page. Removing the top off his pen, he began to write information down. April had read the book and if BK-201 didn't behave himself, would have been able to put BK-201 back in order...he hoped.
Hei couldn't sleep, he could look asleep easily but the actual feeling of tiredness wasn't there. He too could feel the storm approaching at a dangerous speed. It wasn't the Meteor Shard this time, it felt connected to November 11 more than anything else. Was it possible that the MI-6 were going to make a move and bring November 11 in because he didn't produce any results? They had to get to Stargazer, Yin said that he needed to get there and he was going to get there...somehow. It wasn't impossible to get there but they were going to draw the observation spectre's attentions and cause a commotion at the observatory. It could be the only way to get there...but then Misaki was going to find out about who he was...wasn't she? If he showed any pain where he got hurt and Misaki was there...she'll finally make the connection and he was going to be shipped off to PANDORA or killed. The unfinished business was going to remain unfinished if he got caught. Li's life would be stopped...a knock on the door was heard.
"Let's just hope that this is April and or July," November 11 said as he closed the black book and got up off the bed. Did November 11 catch on to him actually being awake? Hei didn't know. What caught his attention was the little black book that he had seen April read from. She enjoyed the contents of what was inside but it was possible that the contents of the book were never going to be available to him.
November 11 walked over to the door and gentle opened it and froze. Standing in the doorway was Decade and other members of the MI-6. The storm had arrived.
"November 11, we've come to talk to you about why you've failed to provide us with any information," Decade told him in a calm manner. November 11 felt his mind turn to slush as he moved out the way to let Decade and the other MI-6 agents into his apartment. He could only hope that they didn't look in the bedroom or BK-201/Li kept quiet enough or if they did threaten to enter the bedroom, Li had the decency to hide where they couldn't find him. It was going to be confusing if they found that Li was in his bedroom, recovering from an injury that his own company had brought on him. He couldn't risk BK-201 getting another injury.
"There's a reason why I haven't been able to provide you with any information," November 11 said quickly. Decade noticed how uneasy November 11 was.
"Is this because of your friend?" He questioned November 11. November 11 paled at the question directed at him. Did he miss an observation spectre sent out to keep an eye on him? If so, then BK-201...was he aware of the spectre as well? Or was he just playing on Li so that he didn't cause suspicion?
"It was my fault that he was injured, I took it on myself to make sure he recovered."
"You've got more important things to do than to look after someone caught in crossfire." November 11 avoided eye contact with Decade; he cursed himself because that made it clear that he was hiding something.
"You've changed since you met the man in your bedroom," Decade told him.
"He's a friend."
"Your team is more important th-"
"Me?" Everyone turned to see the Black Reaper standing in the doorway of the bedroom, stopping Decade from finishing the sentence. November 11 just felt everything come crashing down around him. The Black Reaper was giving himself up to the MI-6? Why would he do that? He's a contractor! November 11 wanted to yell at him, to scold him but was he doing this to protect him and his job?
"You've been sheltering the Black Reaper?" Decade glared daggers at November 11.
"I was...getting him...ready to be taken...to you," November 11 told him. He and Li both knew that it was a lie. He would have done turned Li in ages ago if they didn't talk and Li befriending him but that happened, November 11 changed while learning about Li and BK-201, how the two sides shared the vessel that BK-201 was in control now.
Hei didn't want to do this but he couldn't just sit back and let November 11 get told off and his job threatened to be terminated just because November 11 was spending his time to protect Hei while he recovered. If November 11 wanted to give him over to the MI-6, he wouldn't have spent any time in looking after him. Hei painfully needed to repay November 11 for all the work that he had put into looking after him; all the time he spent trying to learn about himself and still trying to satisfy his boss. As far as Hei was aware, he was in debt to November 11. This was going to be the way on how he was going to repay the contractor. He could just only hope that the MI-6 was going to be an easy place to escape from, he needed to see the Stargazer for something and then continue his path to recovery. That would mean that he needed to find his sister, and quickly if possible. He watched Decade look between him and November 11 before the command was given and the other contractors moved to restrain Hei. Hei didn't fight back. Couple of reasons, he wasn't strong enough to fight in the condition he was in. The second reason was that he didn't want to throw November 11 into more boiling water than he already has just by turning up.
"Finally, we have the Black Reaper." It wasn't hard to hear the joy in Decade's voice. Hei just looked at Decade. "You're going to tell us your secrets."
"One cannot tell secrets if one does not have them to begin with," Hei replied, his voice remained unemotional as Decade's allies bound him.
"You'll tell us everything. It's in your best interest to tell us everything. Isn't that what contractors do?" November 11 could easily feel the smile forming behind the mask he was wearing. The way he remained still also gave that away. "No ME is to go near the Black Reaper until he tells us everything," Decade barked at everyone. They all had their order and both November 11 and Hei were glad that ME wasn't going to be involved until Hei spilt everything. The only issue was...could November 11 stomach the amount of torture Hei was going to go through in order to get the information that they all wanted to hear. That was to see where Hei worked.
Under the Mask – Chapter 19
Hei was locked away in a little cell at the MI-6's base. What he could see was that it was just going to be him in isolation until November 11's boss or until he was getting food. The food served to him wasn't going to be anything he could stomach down, they were going to find that out quickly and use that against him. He talked, he would get food. He didn't talk then he was just going to get food that he couldn't stomach. His body was immediately going to reject it and bring the food back up. He was not looking forward to that. He was glad that he spared November 11 on finding out why he needed fresh food. Decade and the others, he didn't care so much. They could get covered in his sick and he wouldn't shed a care...unless November 11 got involved. The only light source in the room was the tiny light bulb attached to a thin piece of wire. He was surprised that his mask was still on, but that couldn't change fate. Hei was stripped of most of his extra clothing such as his trench coat, harness, blades but they left him with his mask. That confused him. Surely the mask would have been one part of the uniform that he had. He heard a knock on the door. The first form of torture was knocking on his door.
Under the Mask – Chapter 19
Decade watched as members of the MI-6 tried to extract any information out from BK-201. The contractor was remaining quiet. Normal contractors would have spilt everything by now in order to save their own skin, November 11 and the other contractors here had done that when they first joined up. The only contractor who wasn't following the contractor logic was BK-201; he remained quiet and let the other contractors beat him as part of the interrogation. They couldn't see why November 11 showed such an interest in BK-201. He was just a stubborn contractor who didn't want to follow what the other contractors followed. He was just a disobedient child waiting to be put back in his proper place. It became clear that BK-201 was the black sheep of contractors, February or Amber as she was known now would be classed as a grey sheep. She wasn't quite like BK-201 but she still betrayed them and the company she worked for during Heaven's War. The question was, why?
"Tell us who you work for!" A aggressive member of the MI-6 demanded from BK-201, gripping the contractor's tight top and lifting him up off the chair, the MI-6 contractor was wearing a rubber suit to prevent BK-201 from killing the contractor on the spot. Decade wasn't going to risk him killing many contractors that work for them.
"That information is keeping my memories here, why tell them at the cost of my memories?" BK-201 questioned the contractor with the emotionless voice of the Black Reaper.
"We can make a deal with you if you just tell us who you work for! You get your freedom at the cost of information."
"A very rational proposal for a contractor, but that's something I will decline."
"Why?"
"I don't plan on betraying who I work for."
November 11 walked up to Decade, standing behind him to watch the interrogation ofBK-201. He was aware that neither BK-201 nor the contractor interrogating him could see the two of them but he could hope that BK-201 could sense him and at least be of some help. Decade noticed November 11 coming up to him and looked over his shoulder at the British contractor. He turned back to looking at BK-201. "What attracted you to him?"
"He's an interesting contractor with certain qualities that helps him hide within society. While many contractors are still tracked by the observation spectres, BK-201 remains hidden in plain sight," November 11 said. Decade nodded.
"Just watching him now, whoever trained him has proven to be more of a threat than I thought."
"If, this was all self taught?" November 11 asked.
"He's still working for the wrong organisation," Decade shot at November 11. "Self taught or not, while companies and gangs can fight over him, when we find out who he works for and eliminate his boss, then we can select memories to erase and replace them with memories of working with us." November 11 nodded.
Under the Mask – Chapter 19
The interrogation had gone on for hours and Hei kept his mouth shut on anything concerning him and the Syndicate. He didn't have any reason to disclose anything to the MI-6, they had November 11 but he was their best agent, they wouldn't fire him and he was doing his job. He was getting information about BK-201 but it was all just trivial stuff, nothing that the MI-6 was really interested in. Hei felt his stomach growl during the interrogation. His mask was still on but he felt his face heat up with embarrassment. The contractor backed off away from him and smiled.
"Looks like you're hungry, payment perhaps?"
"..." Hei didn't say anything. He still didn't know if this was payment or not...but he didn't even bother to use his power for a while so it wasn't clear or not.
"Boss, is it okay to feed him?" The contractor asked.
"He'll have to wait for tonight before he gets food," Decade told the two of them.
"Go figure..." Hei thought to himself. Unless November 11 made the food and gave it to him then he probably wasn't going to eat at all. Hei didn't have much hope on food.
"Well, looks like you can't eat until tonight. If you just tell us, you'll get to eat sooner!"
"I will not spill the secrets hidden in the dark," Hei replied in a calm tone of voice. He wasn't going to lose his cool because he wasn't going to get any food. The Syndicate didn't train him to complain and whine. You couldn't get anything for whining or complaining, if you wanted something done, you had to do it yourself. He followed orders but still had the common sense to behave himself around the Syndicate and his team to stop himself before he showed any signs of betrayal.
"You're going to shed light on who you work for!" The contractor threw a punch at Hei, he quickly felt the air forced out of him. Hei was glad that the mask didn't come off from his face but saliva escaped from his mouth from the force of the punch could be seen. Hei wished he had super human strength just to punch the contractor back. No, Hei needed to bide his time and plan a way to escape from the MI-6 with November 11. He needed to wait for the right time to spring like a trap. The information was the cheese and he was the mouse trap. Let the contractor sniff and the MI-6 poke. When he was ready, all the needed to do was to strike and kill. That was the way how the Black Reaper liked to work.
