Description Chapter 7

Silence had fallen between the two contractors, November 11 left Hei alone while he was busy working, leaving Hei alone to his own devices. Hei wasn't even sure why he had asked the question he did. He had a pretty good idea what November 11 and Misaki were going to do if his star fell...party and have a good time knowing that the Black Reaper was finally gone from the world. Most contractors and opposing companies wanted him dead so them seeing his star fall...they could do what they pleased without him ruining their missions. Misaki and the rest of the world would know that he was Li Shengshun, the Chinese student who job hopped every few weeks or a month to find a better job.

Moving his arm to grab his mask, the jangle of the chain between both himself and November 11 was still there. Hei would have been better being chained to the bed. It would give him privacy instead of being close to November 11 all the time. Gently rubbing his wrist where November 11 froze for a split second, the pain was still there but November 11 was getting close to driving him crazy. Yin wasn't with him or knew where he was while November 11 had April and July when he needed them. Huang has probably told Yin and Mao that trying to regain the Black Reaper was too risky as November 11 was always with him. Hei didn't blame them and he didn't have any hopes of being rescued until November 11 let him go.

"When are you going to check the injuries?" Hei asked November 11. November 11 paused for a second thinking through a possible answer to give to Hei. Hei waited in silence as he held his mask. Maybe it was about time that he let November 11 see his other mask, a more hidden mask which was going to be harder to remove but he'll be fully exposed and November 11 would know both sides of him. Well, it'll provide some entertainment for himself while hopefully annoying November 11. If he thinks he can learn anything about the Black Reaper while he was Li, he'll have another thing coming. He'll have to do it tomorrow, say he's got dissociative identity disorder.

"I'll check them now," November 11 said as he turned to face the younger contractor. November 11 could easily see that BK-201 was forming some sort of plan in his mind. The look he had in his eyes told him everything, the fact that BK-201 had a plan forming meant that he was going to have to find a way to block out the plan before anything can happen. November 11 didn't even know his code name.

November 11 slowly undressed Hei to make sure that he didn't tear open the wounds; thankfully he didn't tear the wounds open again. Examining BK-201's upper body, it was recovering nicely. The wounds were closed while the skin was repairing itself. November 11 ran his fingers across the scabs, making BK-201 uncomfortable. November 11 noticed how well looked after BK-201 took care of himself, his skin was so soft until he reached his hands.

November 11 noticed how damaged his hands really were, evidence from Heaven's War was still present on his hands, and the friction burns from when he didn't wear the gloves had grown into scars which weren't going to get removed any time soon. The wire had left its mark on BK-201 from the tiny scars from when the wire cut into his skin. Seeing how damaged his hands were compared to the rest of his body...they weren't as appealing to November 11 as the rest of his body. His body was soft and smooth, feeling like silk while his hands were rough, like sand paper.

Hei remained perfectly still, his urge to slam his fist into November 11's face was growing as each second passed. He didn't exactly like his body being on show in front of his enemy but he didn't have much choice. At least it wasn't in front of Misaki, and then things would really get awkward. He couldn't let her know that he knew what she had a crush on Li. He always acted like the blissfully unaware type Li was. He just hoped that Misaki wouldn't find out about who Li really was...

"Well...your injuries are recovering nicely; you should be fine in a week."

"Good, I'm going to go to bed," Hei told November 11 as he put his top back on. November 11 couldn't help but smile slightly seeing BK-201 asleep, his vulnerable time. November 11 got up and went with Hei to get ready for bed.

Under the Mask – Chapter 7

Morning soon arrived before November 11 woke up, something didn't feel right. Looking at the window, he found it to be closed as normal. Something was causing the disturbance and he didn't know what it was. The simple fact that he felt the disturbance wasn't something he liked. Looking over at BK-201, he found him curled up asleep; a small smile was plastered on his face while he slept. BK-201 made it look easy to sleep. He also looked like he was enjoying a dream...but that was impossible. Contractors didn't dream so he couldn't possibly be dreaming. November 11 couldn't tear himself away from the sleeping Reaper. He couldn't bring himself to awaken him, waking up the Reaper could easily be a bad move.

Hei slowly shuffled in his sleep, nuzzling deeper into the pillow. He didn't want to wake up from the night; November 11 would drag him around again and just annoy him in general. Hei slowly uncurled from the ball like position he was in while he was sleeping. Hei stretched as he got himself ready for the day. November 11 watched him as Hei stretched, his wounds didn't threaten to re-open meaning that Hei wasn't restraint of movement. November 11 was glad that the wounds didn't re-open but there was still the disturbance which bugged him.

"Well, ready for a fresh day at work," Hei smiled as he went to leave the bed, the chain rattled pulling Hei away from his excitement and followed the chain. His eyes widened as his sight fell onto November 11's confused face. Hei leapt off the bed (pulling November 11 with him) and quickly bowed to be polite. "I'm sorry for sleeping in the same bed as you sir."

"BK-201, we've been sleeping in the same bed for a while..." November 11 said quietly as he observed Hei. Something wasn't adding up.

"I'm sorry sir? I...would have known if we were sleeping together," Hei stated. "What's a BK-201?"

"Don't play games with me Black Reaper."

"Black...Reaper?"

November 11 watched Hei; he was completely different compared to what he was like last night. November 11 soon realised what Hei was planning, the plan he formed last night was for this to happen. What good was it to act like someone who didn't know anything? No, he had seen this side of Hei before. Thinking back to when he went to see the Black Reaper with the mask off, his reaction then when he played this type of character. He was making another appearance, just to throw him off. He watched BK-201 shuffle on his feat awkwardly. Gently pulling at the chain that prevented either side from leaving each other, the simple fact that he could see this side of the Black Reaper only made him more interesting. A smile appeared on his face, thinking up all the possibilities to do against him.

"You're the Black Reaper? Or are you a different personality?" November 11 asked carefully. Hei held the look of surprise for a split second before it was replaced with a carefree smile. Hei slowly scratched the back of his head while blushing slightly. November 11 wasn't sure if it was out of embarrassment or if he had caught onto something.

"I heard Miss Kirihara talk about some Black Reaper guy, a person wearing black with a white mask but I'm not the Black Reaper, I'm just Li."

"So, your name is Li?" November 11 had to ask, hearing Misaki come out with that name every so often while they talked off duty. November 11 needed to know if this was the Li she was always going on about. Li was the one stealing her free time away but why? Just watching what looked to be an idiot of a contractor was a surprise. It did explain why his skin could be soft in some places but rough on his hands and other parts of the body which were exposed to battle.

"Yeah, I'm Li. Li Shengshun," Hei extended his arm out towards November 11. Mentally smiling, waiting to receive November 11's code name, his pulse quickened as he prepared himself mentally for this moment. He was enjoying this a little too much, he could feel the charge in his body jump higher, if it got any higher then he was going to have to find a way to discharge himself.

"Well, Li Shengshun, I'm November 11. You sustained some serious injuries so I've been nursing you back to health," November 11 explained. He wasn't going to give anything away, he knew that the BK-201 he had last night was still in there, just hiding away...but...what if this is a new personality of his? Someone who doesn't know anything about contractors and is the innocent student as Misaki had called him once?

"I got in a fight?" Hei asked confused, cursing himself on the inside for not predicting this turn out. November 11 wasn't stupid; he was going to have figured out that Hei was planning and probably found a way to counteract what his plan was. November 11 wouldn't give out something like that to anyone. No contractor anyway.

"You weren't fighting yourself, you got caught in the crossfire of two gangs fighting," November 11 lied to Li. If BK-201 was still there, he'll know that he was lying with a possible reaction from him like last time.

"Was the Black Reaper involved?" Hei asked, keeping up the innocent act. November 11 wasn't sure how to respond to that, he had lied to 'Li' and said that he was caught in the crossfire, not involved in the actual battle like he was. The Reaper had placed him in a tricky spot, contradicting his own lie would give the Reaper satisfaction. Something he couldn't let the Reaper have. Looking at Li now, he desperately tried to figure out what was running through his mind, was this another trick of the Reaper or did the Reaper really have...dissociative identity disorder? If he did, then it would explain what was going on and the slip when he unmasked him.

"He...was there," November 11 gave up. He couldn't think up of anything else to say.

"But...I don't like fighting...why would I get into a fight?" 'Li' asked innocently.

"You were caught in the fight."

"You said before that I was the Reaper...this BK-201 person which is impossible."

"You must be hungry?" November 11 quickly changed the subject, Li nodded in agreement.

Under the Mask – Chapter 7

Hei was hiding behind a book, deep in thought about what he was going to do now, hopefully he had November 11 questioning what he was doing but sometimes the switch between his contractor and life was so easy. Others struggled to be human and even when he was being human...it worked perfectly. Now his idea of dissociative identity disorder, could it be true? Hei mentally slapped himself, he didn't have it, and he knew perfectly well that 'Li' was just an alias, a cover when he went undercover. That's all Li was.

Seeds of doubt were planted in his mind, getting uneasy about this whole identity issue. When the Syndicate took his sister away, he went with her, his real name stripped from him and replaced by the codename of Hei. That's all he was called through the years of the Syndicate. He couldn't exactly remember the last time he was called by his real name, not even his sister called him by real name. He always remembered her name, when it came to his name...he let it go so easily but his sister's name...that wasn't something he could forget, he wouldn't allow himself to forget her name.

When he was acting as Li, his memory shifted, trying to figure out something. Forbidden knowledge which was left by the Syndicate in his mind, burnt. He looked up at November 11 from the book, the contractor who was looking after him was busy working or on the phone, the handcuff on his wrist reminded him that he was constantly being watched. Hei watched him in silence, before he started reading the book he was hiding behind, he didn't have anything better to do so reading was going to be the only thing Li would do in a situation like this. He didn't have any work to complete on his own and brining November 11 to his apartment was only going to be bad news, he wouldn't even be allowed to leave the apartment that November 11 had. The silence was interrupted by the soft growling noise emitted from Hei.

November 11 looked up at Hei, BK-201 was one impossible being, and the simple fact that he had just eaten nearly everything in the kitchen and still hungry was astonishing. November 11 wasn't even sure where the food went, BK-201 was already thin as he was and consuming that much food without doing much should have put some weight on him. Yet looking at him now, nothing was going onto BK-201 and his weight was probably the same. So where was all the food going? November 11 caught the blush on BK-201's face, making him smile at how cu- embarrassed he was.

"Keeping you full isn't going to be easy," November 11 laughed slightly, much to Hei's surprise.

"I'm sorry; I...have a condition..." Hei said quickly, he felt his face warm up more from embarrassment. His never ending hunger was always a pain but he had learnt to adapt to it and only he really knew what he needed to do to deal with it. It wasn't always easy though, he needed something which would be filling for a normal person, asking Misaki was out of the question. She wasn't the average person when it came to food. November 11 suited the part but it'll be weird asking him to ask him something like this. It wasn't something he could just get up and ask him what filled him the most, taste was different to everyone and what filled people the most...differed as well. Hei wasn't going to win this battle of what to eat to help him decide what to eat. He wasn't going to ever know what it's like to feel full. His body didn't allow it.

"What type of condition?" November 11 asked.

"It doesn't have a name; I'm apparently the only person in the world with this condition," Hei said with a sheepish smile on his face.

"Interesting..." November 11 muttered while watching 'Li Shengshun' on the other side of the room. He watched the battle in his eyes.

"Yup," Hei sighed slightly, he didn't really want to talk about something he was lying about. He wasn't even sure why his body worked the way it worked. He was always the way he was. He didn't know how to explain it in any other form. It was hard to explain and understand something which you don't understand yourself.

"I think you deserve a trip out only if you promise not to run away."

"Why would I run away? You're looking after me while I recover." November 11 smiled at Hei's response.

Under the Mask – Chapter 7

Hei gently rubbed where his handcuff was. November 11 watched Li as he gently rubbed his wrist. There wasn't any evidence of a handcuff being on him but he knew that Li wasn't going to be forgetting what happened between the two of them. Hei knew what he wanted to do but he found himself unable to carry out what he wanted to do. He could easily run but he couldn't, not when neither mind nor body communicated with what he wanted. His mind wanted to run away from November 11. Stay the hell away from the British contractor and make sure that he didn't let November 11 learn anything else about him. Letting him know about Li was a dangerous move, now because of that...he couldn't run, his Li side wouldn't let him. He was aware that November 11 was watching him.

"Why do you keep looking at me?" Hei asked concerned slightly.

"What?" November 11 asked slightly confused.

"Every time I look at you...You're always watching me? You've already accused me of being the Black Reaper, something I'm not...Yet you keep watching me."

"Well..." November 11 started before he started to feel himself warm up, a blush wasn't in his face yet but just seeing Li's innocent face...he wanted to. Contractors shouldn't even feel this type of feelings. He was a contractor who froze objects and smoked for payment while BK-201...Li...Whoever he was was warming up his insides just by the look of confusion and innocence mixed together was something he wasn't expecting.

"Well?" Li asked him. November 11 panicked slightly.

"I didn't expect BK-201 to be so tricky; he's forced you to take over so that I don't find out more about him. Something slippery like him shouldn't really be out on the streets," November 11 told Li, he knew that he'll be letting BK-201 know what he was thinking.

"You keep talking like I'm your target..." Li said sounding a little disappointed.

"You are my target." Hei frowned at that sentence, he wasn't giving up. He was going to need to ease his mind. Hei growled mentally at what his plan was.

"Why? Why am I your target?" Li asked. November 11 could detect hurt; contractors shouldn't feel like that...BK-201 only opened more doors to possible results leading to more questions on whom the Black Reaper really was. Hei saw that November 11 was thinking deeper into his identity. He needed to act fast, without thinking, Hei leaned forwards and pressed his lips on November 11's lips.
