Look up refrences on google, just type in bird and see if you can combine poses to make your own bird out of it.
Or look for a tutorial on how to draw birds, I dont know, you can do it, believe in yourself >w>)/

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking. It's not a great tutorial because so much of what is being defined is set up in those initial two sketches, like if you can get there, you probably know how to go the rest of the way. It seems only helpful for a very specific sort of intermediate stage, for someone who doesn't know how to add defining details. It is interesting as a progress piece but I don't feel it really helped me learn how to draw a bird or feathers, just one specific person's way of shading feathers. Which may have been the goal. After all, it was made for a friend.
If anyone else is scrolling along here being all like BUT I WANTED TO DRAW A BIRD here are some tutorials for drawing a bird / parts of bird.

Haha yes, sorry ^^ ;
I made this tutorial for a friend who already has some shading knowledge so I didnt have to explain that. My tutorials are more directed to people who already know some stuff about photoshop.
Though if you need a tutorial there are lots of other ones on deviantart that Im sure can help you (:
