Description This is a more classic Central Park shot. Ever since it got warmer, I've started taking a lot of walks through the park, and usually end up passing this spot. I notice people tend to stop here to take photographs of the bridge in the distance and people rowing on the river, so one day when I was feeling inspired, I stopped there too.

I don't think that New York City is particularly beautiful (and yes, I'm allowed to say that because I've lived there for so long), but every so often, it surprises me. Like when I realize that I can capture a gorgeous landscape photo that is within walking distance of noisy streets, tall buildings, and millions of people. Recently, I've tried to start noticing beauty in everything. Self deprecation has sometimes blinded me from seeing what is beautiful, and I've come to the realization that beauty is such an objective term - that what someone sees as ugly, someone else can see as gorgeous. And what I've learned also is that there is beauty everywhere, even in the cracks on the sidewalk, or the sharp folds of a piece of paper. That was part of the inspiration for a photo series I wanted to start called "closeups" where I examined small details of seemingly ordinary things (like pencil cases) to show that, yes, they are beautiful.

Anyway, sorry for the long description, but I guess the moral of all this is that beauty is everywhere, and you don't always need to look hard to find it.
