Description
This is a photo I took a few weeks ago, on a little afternoon trip with . We went to a recently burned area near where we live, and tried to capture some photographs of the charred sage. It was a lot harder than it sounds! Plus we kept kicking up ash, which was a little nerve wracking around the cameras.Anyway, I figured I would dig this out and share it now.

Wow, it's so sad, but beautiful! The shot is fantastic and the black and white effect makes it even better. It reminds me of last year when their was a grass fire near our house, it kinda looked like this afterward.

Your picture reminds me of what happened at Yellowstone in 1988? The fires that destroyed about half of the woods there? I was out of the country, and bummed that I'd never get to see it like was (because trees grow so slowly up there), but I visited the Park about five years ago, and the trees have recovered very well. I suppose all that ash really helped fertilize the soil. The trees are only 20' or so at the tallest, and you can still see many of the charred trunks, but I think in a century it won't be that evident, at all.
