Description I was the first,
the first one to exist.
I will be the last,
the final one to perish.
For I am all,
all that once was,
all that is,
all that will be.
For I am...
Time.

Finally it is done, my work closely related to my old work Eternity, one I personally still see as one of my favourites of all time, regardless of how old it gets. I still see it as some kind of milestone.

This work was not only inspired by my strange love for time and everything related to it, it was also inspired by my dragon clock (on the wall of my bedroom, right above this laptop. I love that clock so much).

First time I used white gel pens! Okay, you can clearly see it was my first time using them, but they did give some cool effects, in my opinion.

The wheels of time bind us all. We have a finite amount of time to create and co-create, yet we have the ability to exist outside the confines of our chosen time (if we seal ourselves in the work we leave behind). Each work of an artist binds a piece of the artist to itself, and has the potential to travel into eternity. The challenge of the artist is to create works that speak to the human soul, so that the artist can live on in the minds and hearts of those who are touched by the art.

This artwork tells me (as I've always believed) that I'm not the creator/sustainer of time, but I do have the potential to defy time, and live on into eternity.

The wheels of time will never stop. How will you impress yourself upon the wheels of time?
This wonderful comment by *artsoldier77 is something I'd like to share with everyone.

I hope you love this piece as much as I do!

This is PERFECT. I had to look a second time to confirm it wasn't a digital drawing. ;w; <3

Fun fact, I've been working on a time related piece including a dragon as well lately. ouoΒ

It's completely different tho, and I love your drawing much much more.

There's so much that's awesome about this, I'd better not start naming it because then I can't stop anymore. xD

wow, such an awesome drawing! I really have to say, that you improved heavily since I visited your page the first time (: I really love how you played with light and darkness here and the details and shading on the dragon are very well done, too. Such wonderful work

Thank you very much. ^^

I discovered I actually love playing with darkness and light, especially with my new gel pens it's far easier to create nice light effects.

I hope to improve even more, but I think this is going to be another milestone, just like Eternity was last year.

Thanks again, I'm honored to get such comments from an amazing artist like you. ^^

I'm doing great, I currently still have my summer holiday, which will last until around the 20th of August, then I'll have to go to school again, but I bet next year is going to be much more relaxed. For short, it's looking good over here! ^^

It would make my day too. xD

I'd love to be able to make something like that. ^^

Hopefully I will one day be able to animate, then perhaps... perhaps I could do that. ^^

However, then I should first feel more comfortable with digital art. xD

Maybe I'll get a tablet by the end of this year, as I do not feel entirely comfortable drawing with my mouse.Β

For now, we'd have to use our imagination to see them move.

I wish I could somehow give thumbs up to this comment so more people could read it, it goes perfectly with my work and it is a truth that drives forward to inspire others with one's art. To have your works or yourself as an artist remembered for eternity would be the ultimate honor, one that would be difficult to achieve, but I feel like the journey is at least as important as the goal.

artsoldier77 In reply to Foxofwonders [2013-08-06 04:16:59 +0000 UTC]

I agree that the journey is as important as the goal, but I don't see immortality/eternity as a goal. I'm my opinion, artists exist solely for the purpose of revealing the infinite dimensions of the mind and the heart. Science will probably never be able to show what "The Mind" or "The Spirit" looks like, but we (artists) visualize these things so easily, with one simple tool...a pencil. It baffles me to no end that we sit in awe of the horribly expensive monstrosities that Hollywood produces, yet we shun our own beautiful words and pictures, that flow so easily from our souls. I believe that art itself is eternal, because we are channeling our visuals from our blood (our past/family/ancestors) and all the things happening around us. Artists are much more sensitive to the life forces and gentle vibrations of our fragile existence. For me, I think the greatest challenge is getting viewers to look deep down into the artwork and the accompanying words, to see pieces of each artwork reflected in themselves.

I love this piece, my friend!

I believe art is still the only way to visualise dreams. Dreams have always amazed me, they can show you incredible things or inspire you, while it's still something out of your own mind. It's a bit like exploring new parts of yourself (even though some of them may be just weird). I love to know what others dream, out of curiosity. I've heard of many amazing things happening in dreams.

Sorry for slightly changing the subject, but I thought it was one of the many interesting things about the mind.

I agree! I've heard so many fascinating things about dreams, but the idea that dreams areΒ

how the subconscious mind processes your daily activities/emotions, rings very true for me.Β

I think many artists draw inspiration from their dreams...I know I do.

One of the things that attracted me to "Time", is its dreamlike qualities.

The concept is really fantastic, and you managed to pull off a tricky composition. I've always admired traditional art, since I as a digital artist have somewhat lost touch with the art form. The first thing that caught my attention was the dragon's eye. You can tell it's looking at the viewer and it almost entrances them. In fact, most of the dragon is very well done. Honestly, the only thing I think could be improved, (And I don't say this is a musts since traditional art is so hard to change), is perhaps a little bit more definition in the hand reaching down, with a slightly lighter boarder around it, and maybe on the wings, on you know, the part that is in front of the golden gear. Overall a beautiful pieces.

Thank you very much for this amazing comment, and your tip as well.

I think I could perhaps put it to use in the future, by not finelining the area I want bright (I discovered you can vaguely see the black fineliner below the white, even though it's hard to see), I hope that will make it even better. I believe white gel pens have some amazing potential (they have already shown that xD). Thank you so very much -again- for your long comment, I truly do appreciate it.
