Recently I bought a new box of markers (all of my old ones went dry), so I drew Ena with them.

I've been watching Joel G for a while now. Recently one of his videos used the soundtrack of the Adventures of Kosuke Kindaichi, a Japanese screwball comedy film from the late 70's with a similar, Free Association style to Ena, so that was jarring.

Ena is one of those character designs like Xavier from Xavier: Renegade Angel, where seeing them makes you completely rethink how characters are designed. Their exact interplay of cubist abstraction, 3D space, and modern anime tropes makes for the perfect visual of a well-meaning but mercurial netizen who thinks, speaks, and acts in cultural references, viral memes, and nonsensical adlibs. I hope to make a character who is as creatively boundary-pushing as Ena or Xavier, let alone make something as upside-down feeling as Joel G's Ena videos.
