Description

For a while now, I've wanted to be able to replicate the look of Naive art (art made with no training whatsoever), as a way to go out of my often surgically formal artistic training and mode of thinking.

I complained in the past about how my canvases were resembling 19th century Academy painters such as Jan Matejko too much. I recalled a *very notable* naive drawing, the image of Mary Sue in the Star Trek fanfic *a Trekkie's Tale*, it being seemingly produced by eye (from a reflection, maybe), but with no construction lines, many Symbol Drawing simplifications, and *every single strand on the head of hair rendered* (a common aspect of art produced without training).
Somewhat ironically, emulating a less than optimal way to draw hair made me *better* at drawing hair, not worse. It forms into clumps, but divides stochastically until becoming minor collections of strands at the very bottom. I recall being annoyed with my own tendency to draw the bottom of a crop of hair as a series of spikes, and now I know how to get around that.

As for *a Trekkie's Tale* itself? It seems moreso like a check-list of every single writing pitfall in a bad fanfic; a touch like Freddy Got Fingered, being not a parody of a poorly made piece of media but a perfect, cold simulation of what that bad piece of media would be. I enjoyed the fic though mainly due to it's sense of humor.
